Some people like to HUNT for heresy (under the guise that they are "defending the faith" or "being a good berean"). To pull that quote out of it's original setting without Hagin's full explanation for it is proof positive that someone was looking for something to use against him. I could do that with ANY minister - Charismatic, Evangelical, or otherwise. It's easy to make anyone look heretical when we use these secular journalistic tactics.

I can vouch, Neal is not that way, it's not his character to do what this post suggests.

Neil,

I think he means something like when we teach that we become divinized. Met is right, he did not explain it the best way he could have but It sounds like he is saying something similar to what we teach, that when in grace we are the closest to God without actually being God.
I haven't read anything recent by Rev. Hagin or on this subject, but from what I have read, I'd say you're correct. Maybe victoryword will have time to find his copy and quote from it for us.

In another thread in another forum, a poster really did misquote C. S. Lewis by leaving out the full text and also didn't cite the source, and by the time I finally found the full text, I couldn't remember which thread it was in; there are many similar threads in the forum and I can be a bit dim at times. :sigh:

Here is a fuller quote that includes the part about being born again.

"You are as much the incarnation of God as Jesus Christ was. Every man who has been born again is an incarnation and Christianity is a miracle."

I just find it odd. It would have been just as easy to include the sentence that followed. But of course it would have ruined the effort to make the man out to be a heretic. However this is an example of the dishonest and unscrupulous methods some will use to achieve their ends.
So I continue to question:Why? Why would someone want to do this to a man. Why would you risk your own testimony and reputation and do such a thing.
I think there is a lust involved in this. It is like the lust that drives up the sales of the supermarket tabloid. There is a certain delight that the flesh gets from gossip and false witnessing. It may well up from the midst of the jealously and bitterness of those who do it. I do not know. I cannot see into the hearts of those who seem to delight from doing this sort of thing. But I pray for those that do it. I pray they see the errors of their ways, and repent before the Lord returns.

Hi, didaskalos! How have you been?
I'm  chillin...
how u bin?

Trying not to get worked up about this stuff. Those of us who knew Dad Hagin for many years find this a painful time. I do not know about the others, but people who had a part in the ministry feel a profound change in the air. Can't explain it. But I feel good about it. Don't want to ruin it by getting into a fuss over something like this.
Peace

I love Dad Hagin. I have read some of his books and have learned alot from his tapes, teachings, and the people who he taught. I have met him before. He is a great man of God. We will see him again. As Rev. Jesse Duplantis would say, "He's not in our past, but he is in our future." We will see him again in Heaven.

Thank you all for answering my question. That quote was presented in the form that I quoted it in a thread I read online. One thing that irks me more than anything else is misrepresentation, and the "..." made me think that something was amiss. I do not care who is being misrepresented, I will stand up for them. I am sorry to hear about the Reverend's passing. I had only heard he was ill. Ya'll were the only people I knew to ask, and that was the only quote I had to give in reference. Thank you for the help, and I apologize if I came off as judgmental in my OP.

God Bless you all,

Neal

I never thought you were coming across in a bad way Neal. I thought your question was sincere and that you were curious. I would have been too if that had been all I had know about it. Thanks so much for giving us the chance to clarify the point. I hope I made sense. Blessings to you and I know I speak for thte others when I say you are always very welcome in this forum!

isshinwhat,

Dad Hagin's passing wasn't because he was ill. What you might have heard is that he was in the hospital after he decided to go home. The story should still be on www.rhema.org. If not, I will post a little more details about everything that happened. Basically, he smiled at his wife, sighed, bowed his head, and went home.
