  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why can't we somehow get rid of all the evil?

Because we are the ones who keep evil in the world. If each person in this world, refused to sin for 10 minutes, then the entire world would be rid of sin for 10 minutes. As long as we continue in sin, the world continues in sin. If you want to rid the world of evil, rid yourself of sin, pray and help others to do the same. God asks us to come to Him, He gives us the full power of the Holy Spirit to overcome the sins that seperate us from Him and He sacrificed His only Son so that we would have the opportunity to unite with Him. I think He's done quite a bit to make our lives better. What have we done for Him lately?

I am trying to help others get out of sinful ways but it's hard when they all go to clubs and stuff and drink to the point where they can't remember anything I am so afraid something might happen to one of them. :(
Meanwhile, I am seen as the square who doesn't have any fun because she's always studying or ill.
Therein lies the problem. If I was better I might be able to show these people you can enjoy yourself without compromising your morals.

I don't know. What does THe Bible mean when it says we will be Blessed if we keep the commandments and we will get out Hearts desires if we put God first?

I think you need to understand that you can do nothing, you can not heal anyone/save anyone. It is God's job, all you can do is pray and be an example of Christ and let God be God and he will have mercy on whom he will.

You have to understand the theology here. We have free will and God can zap us if he wills, he did in the case of the great saints but there are those who he does not zap with extraordinary grace, but his grace he does give to us all is sufficient. He will have mercy on who he will. Pray, and know he hears prayers, be the best example of Christ you can be but let God be God.

Ok, so why does it say we will be blessed and healthy and so on if we keep His commandments?

And I never Pray for myself I am always praying for others aswell. I know I whine a lot on here but it's out of frustration at not knowing where I am going wrong.

I keep Praying for my will to be united with Gods'.
You can pray, hope, wish all you want. It won’t happen until you get up and do. You want to be trusting of God, then trust God.

You have to do this, you can not sit back and expect God to just zap you and you will all of a sudden trust with out no effort on your part, with out a conscious act of you will. You want to have a strong faith, then have a strong faith that doesn’t depend on if you get answered in the way you are expecting.

Jesus explains that those who have faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains. That doesn’t mean that a little faith is all you need and then you get what you want.

It means that God gives you faith, it is a gift and it can be the size of a mustard seed, he is not obligated to give you the faith of a graet saint, he gives what he will, but with your consent, your surrender, you effort, an by an act of your will, that faith can move mountains, meaning you can grow it into the strongest faith in God that anyone has ever had.

We must cooperate with grace. It does not mater how big or small the grace of God is, it is sufficient for you if you cooperate with it, it will become the faith that the saints have now.

Yes, I have asked for a sign from Saint Therese and I have received it, but it was not just like picking up the phone and placing an order. You may see a sign and you may not. You may receive a rose, a dozen roses, or you may simply see a rose where you would not likely see one. You may get a peice of mail that has a rose on it, or like I said you may not see a rose at all. Saint Therese does not have to do anything. I have been devoted to her since 1999 when my wife brought a petition to her relic that was visiting our city. Placed the petition on the relic and then brought it to me and laided it on my pillow as I had been very ill. The next morning there was a strong smell of roses in our room which could not be explained. This was one of the main things that caused me to convert from Baptist to Catholic. She is known to love to convert people and save people. So you see, you may not even receive a rose. You may have to open your mind and be devoted to Saint Therese.
The latest case that happened to us was recently we had been doing a novena to her asking that something very important to us would happen. We had just completed the novena and we were walking down the street when a car pulled up beside us and slowed down and the people waved to us. The lady passenger had a vase full of yellow roses. We were blown away. We did not know these people, so why did they slow and wave. You tell me, but I have to tell you we knew that our novena would be answered and yes it was. You have to have faith.

Here is the novena to Saint Therese:

Saint Therese, The little flower, please pick me a rose from the heavenly garden and send it to me with a message of love.
Ask God to grant me the favor I thee implore and tell Him that I will love Him each day more and more.

Say the above prayer along with the Our Father, Hail Mary, and the Glory Be five times for five successive days before 11:00 am and then on the fifth day say one more group of five prayers listed above.

You might also read the book A Story of a Soul which is about her life. You could also go see the movie THERESE if it is still playing in your area. You can get information at www.theresemovie.com

If you do all of these things then you might understand her and appreciate her Little Way. Good luck.

In Christ, Mary, and all of the Saints, especially Saint Therese, GlynnW

Ok, I think it said it in Deutronomy or something. Something about the passages 20: upwards. It said keep my commandments and we will all be blessed and our family anfd friends and beasts and work etc..And also that God teaches us to profit.
Make it harmonies with the NT.

You can’t keep reading scripture in a vacume. Under the old covenant- they were still trying to get all this down, they hadn’t yet, Jesus came and fulfilled what they were trying to get.

Jesus suffered, this is the way, picking up the cross, dying to self and accepting whatever God gives and giving whatever God takes, with a smile (Mother Theresa).

Do you understand this? She said, “If you go to well one day and there is water, you praise God, if you go the next and there is no water, you still praise God… if you are willing to take the good from God, then you must also be willing to take the suffering.”

I agree you have to DO, but where I fall short is knowin what TO do. For example, I've been to Drs about my Chronic fatigue and they can't help. I am going to keep going until I find answers but I don't know what God wants me to do. Does he want me to see a naturopath? Or to try and find another Dr? Plus, because I was ill the other day and never went to the Dr because I was asleep, Centrelink may want me to pay back money they gave me for looking for work. I still looked for work and I have since handed the forms in, but because I was ill, they may want me to pay the money backl. Drs can't back-date letters it's illegal so because I was sleeping due to the fatigue, I have to try and find money from somewhere.

I am trying not to worry I give it all to God and I am searching for answers but can't seem to find any.

And I am actively doing my best to not have feelings for a certain someone actively, but the feelings aren't going away so I don't know waht God wants me to do there. I know I have to do SOMETHING we can't stand still but how can I know? Do I just do whatever and hope for the best?

Glynn,

That was so beautiful.

I know I used to think like that... that a rose would have to float from the sky on a pillow for it to be from Theresa but then I realized one day in the grocery store when I saw beautiful roses that my being taken by the beauty of the roses were a sign.

Also I had a few customers when I use to work, real close to where you are BTW and a few would bring me roses. Could they be signs? It is all how you look at it I guess.

You exhaust all reasonably possibilities, whilst trusing that you are never for one momnent outside God's love. It is not merely a matter of trusting things will work out okay- because they might not. It is a matter of trusting that whatever happens it is God's will for your perfection and eternal happiness.

I too have touched the relic of Saint Therese when it came here. The chapel was very full we had to stand. It was very moving and kind of sad I felt bad for the Nuns who waved from the window of the convent to Saint Therese as she left. I guess to them it would have meant a lot aswell.

Why do some get to see statues cry or Eucharist hosts bleeding? I don't know, but I suspect it is because they need see them.
In my parish we did have the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help weep. Many came and it was on the new and all that and like usual, many said it was rigged and said the priest, who is the holiest priest in all of Louisiana, IMO was faking it and it was just ridiculous not to mention it was my own family members who was saying some of these things—who are Catholic and send their kids to that parish school.

Reflecting on this one day, I felt Mary saying to me, the reason why she does not appear like that to everyone is because it wouldn’t make a difference, they would just disbelieve. We don’t believe because we see, we believe because we do not see.

So do you think it's possible to be joyous and bursting with happiness at all times even in the face of your worst scenarios coming to pass? Should I merely be Praying for nothing but to accept Gods' will joyously?
Yes.

That is the peace that Jesus speaks of. The peace the world can not give nor comprehend. It is having peace amidst the storm. The storm can be raging and we are at peace. Jesus said, you will have trouble in the world, he promised that we would be he said, I have over come the world. So be at peace, Jesus is in the boat with you as he was when the storm came and the apostles were frightened.

Do you understand what we are trying to tell you. “Do not let your hearts be troubled, I have over come the world.” You can handle anything that comes and the way to find this peace is accept hardships, suffering, what ever as a pathway to that peace.

Have you ever heard of the serenity prayer? I think that prayer may do you some good.

I'm glad I saw that.... Funny how we can see the most coincidental things like this. Because i just returned from visiting the exposed Eucharistic adoration and then Benediction...

It is not a question of happiness, per se- but rather of peace- peace residing deep within you. It is right and good to weep when we are sad, to laugh when we are happy, to fight when we are justly angry.

One of my favorite scriptures is form Pihillipians 4:4-7" Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

And /I must say, everytime I walk passed the crucifix in the vestibule at church- I kiss His feet and pray "Help me to accept my Cross joyfully!"
