I received an email newsletter from them today with the usual updates and discounts for icons, etc. But also --- they are struggling with this heat and lack air conditioning. They are asking for help so I thought I'd post it here in case anyone here would like to buy icons from them to help them out but isn't signed up to their newsletter:

"This Summer is still quite hot here at the Skete, and the heat has continued now for many, many weeks. It is hard to get used to. Our production crew and office staff at times have shifted their hours earlier if a day was particularly hot, and are now often going back home at mid-afternoon when needs be. It is just slightly less hot than a week ago, but also humid now.
We tried to get ahold of our air conditioning contractor but have not been able to do so. The first set of window air conditioners that we looked at to relieve the monk who works in the research library, and also sleeps nearby in another trailer, were very well made and had many good features to use for now, but it turned out that they specifically warned in small print in the comments from the manufacturer that they couldn’t go through the wall for installation, as they could only be used in windows. That sent us back to the drawing board. We were able to find other air conditioners now that are listed as through the wall, but this delayed us ordering it as they cost more money. We had one donor specifically help with some of the monies needed—what a blessing! We are praying for some more help to get at least what is most needed in three larger window air conditioners to help this just now, and ask you to pray also that we can afford to do so very soon. It has been hard to be patient. The cat has had to have the door open all night to avoid any overheating. So far this time he hasn’t gotten beaten up as had happened before.
We need more help just now, between the heat which is so hard to adjust to that affects both our staff and the monks, and the summers which are continuing to be slower times for both sales of our icons and also donations.
If you can, please make another icon order now, even a small one. Our icon selection is larger than anyone else that we know of, so if you look at our web site you can find many custom icons you may not have seen before. If you can, please give another donation now, even a small one, while we are praying that this summer’s financial heat will also dissipate somewhat until the weather will change. Thank you for your past support, and your prayers so welcome and needed. We are praying for you, and for your health, and for your productive return to work too as you safely can.
