I got to eat lentil soup for dinner!!! :( yummy :D

Lentils... yuck. I've barely started to come around on my hatred for beans in general... I've realized that they can be pretty tasty coming from Zatarain's :)

oh man, i was at the grocery store just now and they had a special on orange juice, two of those half-gallon things for $4. i'm no longer losing my vitamin c!
My son loves orange juice. He can take down a half gallon in a matter of 3 days or so by himself. It's funny, because when I was pregnant with him, I craved orange juice like you wouldn't believe. I still crave an ice cold orange julius every once in a while.
It's kind of the same with my daughter. She loves milk. Just plain white milk, not chocolate, just good ol' milk. That's what I craved with her too....and I HATE milk. I had to drink it with ice so it had less of the milky taste to it. But I felt like I would go insane if I didn't get my milk.

:) I love orange juice. I get the kind with extra calcium because I don't like drinking milk that much.

I have a dilemma. Sunday, I have the opportunity to visit the monastery for their feastday celebration. I haven't been there in well over a year and desperately need this. BUT, my cousin and his wife are having their two children baptised in the Lutheran church Sunday and asked me to come a few weeks ago. (I have since forgotten because they haven't mentioned it to me again.)
I don't know what to do. I need to go to the monastery. I am need of it in a bad way. Not only that, but I need the time with my godmother as well. We haven't been able to really talk in a very long time.
But on the other hand, this is my family, and they attended mine and my children's baptisms when we became Orthodox.
Ugh! Why did it have to be THIS Sunday?

What time is the baptism? Is there any way you could get to the baptism and then go to the monastery or the other way around?

If I were you I'd go to the baptism since it is a one-time event.

It's a 2 1/2 hour drive to the monastery. We would be leaving very early in the morning and getting home probably around 10 pm.

Wow, that's a long day!

Probably best to pray about it. Perhaps another opportunity to go to the monastery will come up soon.

This is a very painful decision to make, but I think you're right Matrona. Maybe I will be able to go to the baptism and still make it to my church. What I need isn't so much the monastery, but the desperate NEED to talk to my priest or the hieromonk who I've talked to before ASAP.

Hey gang!
I'm back in the USA!
However, came back to a message that they cannot get my wedding dress and they'll be close since yesterday... AKA they have my money and I want to get a hold of them so I can get the one off the rack and just alter it. ARGGGGH!

Sounds like a silly thing to pray for... but right now that's all I have to go on. I really don't want to start looking for another dress with so little time to go and I cannot find another dress I like as much... :(

I will pray for you.

That is why I made my own dress. Saved a bundle of money and I knew where it was at all times. :D

I would have made/have it made if I had more time, but at this point it just over 3 months to the wedding... Most dresses have a delivery time of 12-16 weeks so I hope I can find something...
I'm actually thinking of trying to get the one they have on the rack and just alter it. It looked in good shape and with their messing up I'm sure they can work something out. Now I just have to get a hold of someone in the store and hope that they haven't sold the floor model yet... arrrrr...

OK, back to bed trying to get some more sleep... argh, I am sick of jetlag.

I made my dress in about 2 days. Then I made my veil and petticoat in one day and I was set. It only took about one day to get all of the materials. I had to go to different fabric stores to find what I wanted. So, it took about one week from start to finish. I didn't have a train on my dress, but my veil was extra long and trailed on the floor for about three to four feet behind me. I also made a blush that was attached to the front part of the veil and I was able to put the crown on top of my veil.

I made my floor length dress out of cotton eyelet as it was a hot September wedding. For my belt, I got a piece of very durable fancy lace and sewed pearls on it. I used bridal lace wherever I could so that my dress truly looked beautiful.

There were several McCalls Patterns that were lovely. Mine had a square neck with long sleeves. It was very modest. The dress was layered with a full old-fashioned cotton petticoat underneath made with bridal illusion for fullness. After the wedding, I trimmed off the bottom layer from the dress, so that it was just below my knees, and then I used it for dressy occasions. So I was able to use it more than once.

Aria,
you're probably a better seamstress than I am  ! I used to sew most of my clothes but it's been like 10 years I sewed anything more than straight seams.
The good news is tho, I was able to get to the store and they still had the dress and since the train is fairly long the seamstress said she can lift it a bit, get some fabric off of there and make the inserts needed to make the current one my size. It's not white white, but it's going to have to do... and I'm just not letting it bother me. My husband has a white white uniform so that's why I wanted the white white dress. It's a cool (not yellowish) off white so I don't think it'll look weird... And if all else fails, there is always Photoshop LOL! I sure hope that was the highest stress my wedding will have. I refuse to make it high stress.
There was this guy in the store with his fiancee and apparently there was a stain on her dress (their wedding isn't for a year) and the company offered to clean it and he was screaming from the top of his lungs at the lady that they don't trust them anymore and he's going to sue and this that and the other... calling her every name in the book. Talk about Groomzilla!
I don't know about anyone else but I feel becoming Orthodox has made me a much calmer person. Yes, I was upset last night but it was more because I just don't want to keep stressing but rather just go on with other things...
