I know how you're feeling Xenia, but I know what you're saying. Isn't just wonderful that even if something is not exactly perfect, God still helps us to deal with it.:)

My son loves orange juice. He can take down a half gallon in a matter of 3 days or so by himself. It's funny, because when I was pregnant with him, I craved orange juice like you wouldn't believe. I still crave an ice cold orange julius every once in a while.
It's kind of the same with my daughter. She loves milk. Just plain white milk, not chocolate, just good ol' milk. That's what I craved with her too....and I HATE milk. I had to drink it with ice so it had less of the milky taste to it. But I felt like I would go insane if I didn't get my milk.

That's funny. I did the same thing. The foods I craved, my son loves. Are we conditioning them or is that tiny child subconsciously controlling us?

LOL

Aria,
you're probably a better seamstress than I am  ! I used to sew most of my clothes but it's been like 10 years I sewed anything more than straight seams.
The good news is tho, I was able to get to the store and they still had the dress and since the train is fairly long the seamstress said she can lift it a bit, get some fabric off of there and make the inserts needed to make the current one my size. It's not white white, but it's going to have to do... and I'm just not letting it bother me. My husband has a white white uniform so that's why I wanted the white white dress. It's a cool (not yellowish) off white so I don't think it'll look weird... And if all else fails, there is always Photoshop LOL! I sure hope that was the highest stress my wedding will have. I refuse to make it high stress.
There was this guy in the store with his fiancee and apparently there was a stain on her dress (their wedding isn't for a year) and the company offered to clean it and he was screaming from the top of his lungs at the lady that they don't trust them anymore and he's going to sue and this that and the other... calling her every name in the book. Talk about Groomzilla!
I don't know about anyone else but I feel becoming Orthodox has made me a much calmer person. Yes, I was upset last night but it was more because I just don't want to keep stressing but rather just go on with other things...

My dress was made of champaigne white because that was the only decent eyelet.
My husband wore a cream Tuxedo. So the professional photographer adjusted the colors and my dress looks white. My mother had a fit because I wasn't wearing white white as a virgin should, but what can you do if the fabric bolts have defects (sewn seams joining two pieces together so that I didn't have enough to make the dress without a horrible seam running down the middle.) I cannot handle the hot polyester fabrics as that gives me the hives and that was the only other choice.

I'm so glad that you will able to get the dress adjusted. Having a long train can be a problem, so with it a little shorter it will be more manageable. That is why I had the train on my veil and not on my dress.

Now you're onto something!:)
It's what the little critters want that cause the cravings;)
Never thought about it that way before.

I thought that I would be having a boy because I craved foods rich in zinc (the doctor gave me a mineral supplement with zinc and that also helped) and I craved cranberry sauce, which is one of my son's favorites.

That stinks that they couldn't get you the color you wanted, but I'm sure it'll look fine. But if it doesn't look right you can change your wedding to night time and have the church only lit by candlelight... no one will ever know. :D

I'm pale so this looks better anyways. I'm going to take hubby's uniform (think Officer and a Gentleman :D ) back with me and put it next to the dress and see if it looks funny... There is a black uniform he could use too but the choker whites just look sooooo much nicer. Plus according to the state we're already married and I know no one will question it not being white white. But this is the more important part... neither of us have been wearing wedding bands as we consider the church wedding our actual wedding. We'll call our civil service our Navy wedding as we did it for his clearance. :D
The priest in Finland we had first talked to didn't want me to have a train at all... Father here said: You can have a long of a train as you'd like... Now it is up to his wife to get him back for that one as Matushka will be my crown holder (Kevin's orthodox friend will most likely be out to sea on deployment, so we lost our orthodox needed for it to be legit).

Ok, time for a nap... I'm so jetlagged... ugh.

Also, how much train is the finished dress going to have? A long train is beautiful during the wedding, but it makes the dress heavy and it feels even heavier once you bustle it.

It's pretty long (they probably won't take more than 2-3 inches off of it - just enough to get fabric for the alterations). The veil is not the one I'm going to wear and the back will have a panel under the ribbons. I've ran every dress I've looked at by Father so it is approved :D . I've seen Matushka's dress so I kind of had an idea of what was ok (and her father was a Bishop).

LoL. I also had a condition called pica (I think that's how you spell it) when I was pregnant with my daughter. I craved really wierd things, like powdered laundry detergent, and dust.

Dear Jennie:

The dress is lovely, but how did you get in? Do you have to untie and then have someone retie all those ribbons in back, or it that just a decoration with a hidden zipper somewhere?

It reminds me of those ethnic Swedish, German and Norwegian dance costumes where the front is very similar to the back of your dress. The bodice must be laced just like you do with shoes.

On my honeymoon, I was able to pose in an expensive and beautiful Swedish dance custom that belongs to my sister-in-law. It was made of a gorgeous shade of royal blue wool fabric and it fit me perfectly. Strangely, it resembled the Greek dance dresses, and so do the veils they use. And not surprisingly, a lot of cities in Sweden have Greek names. I guess there was a Greek migration to Sweden at one point in our human history. Anyway, my Swedish husband often is mistaken for a Greek.

Well, it's just one long ribbon... the lady at the store did it for me and it took just a minute or so. My Maid of Honor gets to fiddle with it :D ! She said she'd take a ribbon any day... apparently her sister had a dress with like 50 buttons to get closed.

LOL. My dress had about 2 pearl buttons down the back.

Hey, for you cat lovers:

You can tell if one is studying to be a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

... if they try to teach a cat to meow.

LOL

We have an abandoned kitty who has adopted us and the first time she met me she hissed, so I meowed at her, and finally after a couple of hisses, I got her to meow. Then I fed her. Yes, just like an SLP, I reinforced her good behavior. LOL.

Haha, I speak pretty good cat I guess... they always answer! They've been attention hogs since I got back from Finland... little buggers!
My roommate on my Alaska trip last year is an SLP...

An interesting little factoid that I read off a cat-devoted website was that in the wild, adult cats do not meow---it is something only seen in kittens. Only domestic cats continue to meow into their adulthood.

Wow, I didn't know that.

Then again, when was the last time you heard a tiger meow? :)

I had trouble saying my R's and such in childhood and I really didn't like my speech teacher or the sessions or anything [lasted till 3rd grade]. But apparently I was incomprehensible as a child and now, though I'm still incomprehensible, it's not because I can't say letters. One success story, I suppose.
