One of my friends is getting married in a couple weeks and she ordered a strapless gown. She also lost close to 50 pounds in the past six months, and her seamstress apparently doesn't understand what needs to be done--she is talking about letting the dress out.:o I told her to get David's Bridal on speed dial and to have some double-sided tape ready, just in case.
I hope this strapless thing is out of style by the time I ever walk down the aisle. Another friend who photographs weddings says that he misses lots of shots because the brides are jacking up their dresses. :o
Marjorie said:I have some good news for you guys... a while ago I wrote a book about being a young person and a Christian and young people and Christianity in general... and it is being published by Paraclete Press this October. Obviously I've known about this for a while but have been waiting for it to develop a bit more before I told you guys. So as to not violate the forum rules on self-promotion... I won't link to it... but see my profile for the link.Frederica wrote a foreward for it. So if any of you are interested, or think anyone you know would be interested, maybe you could spread the news around!

Good job. I look forward to seeing your book. Any chance of sharing a snippet, or the back cover synopsis?
Back Cover said:"We are very close to accepting God as the only source
of meaning."
So says seventeen-year-old Marjorie Corbman in this passionate search for God, love, and identity. Perhaps she speaks for many in her generationthose between the ages of fourteen and twenty-fourwhen she says
"My generation is often mischaracterized or misunderstood by parents and those around them, assumed to be irreligious, cynical, and jaded. I intend to depict it as I see it: which is to say a generation lying just at the door of faith, having rejected everything but faith itself."
In this startling and enlightening book, Marjorie shares her own experiences as well of those of many of her friends, dismantling with transparency and grace the misconceptions surrounding todays teenagers.
Honest and engaging, Marjorie charts her own transformations, from growing up in a home with little interest in spiritual things to her own preparations for conversion. Along the way, she discusses intimacy, tradition, eternity, community, justice, escapeand how each relates to what Marjorie calls the one thing needfulfaith.
This remarkably wise book is for anyoneyoung or olderwho sometimes experiences faith and doubt as flipsides of the same coin.
