  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And the class schedule for Summer and Fall quarters is FINALLY out!

Now the question is, do I take four classes in the fall or do I take one online summer class and then three in the fall?
Decisions... decisions...

One online, 3 in the fall!

last final tomorrow as an undergrad (graduating with a bachelor's in industrial and systems engineering), then the great drifting of work for a year, then on (hopefully) to get my Master's in Philosophy.

Lord help me, I feel so old to be making this switch! But, I was comforted by a friend who's older than me and just got his PHD, he said "you'll look back on this time and realize how young you were." I certainly hope that's the case because I feel much older than I'm being told I am

Are you 23? If so, then yeah...you're pretty young still! I just went back to school last year after being out for the last 12 years.

At the ripe young age of 36 I am becoming a student again.

My first quarter of college was during the last presidential election and I took a Political Science class on US campaigns and elections. Most of the people taking the class were fresh out of high school like I was, but there was one guy there who was in his forties pushing fifty. He was a great asset to the class because he could say things like, "Well, I remember back in the 1980s when Reagen was running for reelection and did a lot of this sort of campaigning..."

Sure it was an "old guy" in a class full of mostly young kids, but he had a lot of insight on things.

I will eventually be going on to get an MTh and possibly a PhD and by the time I get the doctorate I will probably be in my mid to late 40s.

I have a really awesome cake in the oven. Honey caramel pear cake. On the downside it will finish cooking at 11:45pm. So I won't get to eat it until Thursday :(

I have a habit of baking when I can't eat it. Like fasting days, or Holy Week. Oh well...I'm sure it will taste good then :)

The whole house smells good :) It's hard not to eat it! You make a caramel with brown sugar, honey and butter, then stir that with two lightly beaten eggs through flour, baking powder and cinnamon, add two diced pears, arrange another pear over the top in slices made to form a flower, spread with apricot jam for a glaze and cook. Mmmmmm.

We chatted with you for a long time - we were comfortable with you and enjoyed your company. Why should that change because your beliefs have changed ?

Enjoy the fellowship here - you know the boundaries and we know you won't overstep them.
