Random useless fact of the day: did you know film director Emir Kusturica got baptised in the Orthodox Church as the servant of God Nemanja? Happened about four years ago, but I only found out yesterday while wasting my time in wikipedia.

Good Morning!

I spent most of the day Saturday chasing the kids at the Monastery. My oldest just wouldn't leave the Sisters' cats alone, so I finally asked him very seriously if he had ever been grounded by a nun.

He left the cats alone after that.

I also got to meet one of the priests form the Atlanta area and also the priest from our mother Church in Columbia, SC.

An introductory message - I'm Andrew, an Orthodox Christian living on the east coast of Australia...heard a lot about forums from a couple of Orthodox on here, thought I might sign up and see what the fuss was about

I've been Orthodox for a few years now (chrismated 2002), currently doing the St Stephens Course (correspondence), and I chant at a couple of parishes around my area.

And, don't worry, if I see anyone in the dairy section of the supermarket this Wednesday...it never happened

Yes, Mrs. G and I finally had our wedding in the Church yesterday! It was a very long process going through marital counselling and all and it was such a beautiful ceremony. Fr. Basil S actually drove in from Lorain, Ohio to concelebrate with Igumen Patrick.

I totally agree it is heretical and should be banned from the EO churches not our trad. drink Too western... We can go only as far as west as Ireland . ........what is kvas? just curious EC...

Kvas is a Russian (maybe Ukrainian as well?) brew that has so little alcohol in it, about 1-2%, that it is considered 'acceptable' for children to drink. I believe that it is brewed traditionally in monasteries. The kind we had had zero alcohol in it and I liked it because it wasn't a soft soda like coke or pepsi. It had a stronger 'bite' to it.

Great stuff. I could live off of it

I myself get married tomorrow before the French regicide regime. My real marriage takes place next friday.

I will post a photo of the icon of the Wedding at Cana that I wrote for the event. You will be receiving a copy of the icon. The original is 24 inches wide x 36 inches tall and has the entire Gosple reading for that event wrapped arround the icon.
