Anhelyna - yep, pretty much. They've been snowed in at least twice, I don't remember exactly. They did have fun though. And those bags are awesome! I want them here, our "green bags" aren't anywhere near as good or cool. My ladybug bag will probably turn into my "Saturday night bag" because I have to stay the night at someone's house near the Church so I can be picked up at 7:15 for a 7:30 start of Matins - I live more than half an hour from the Church, Andrew lives five minutes away, and at the moment he has to get up at 5am to pick me up. So I'm staying with a lovely lady from my parish who also lives nearby. But I need to take things like sleeping stuff and prayer books and church clothes and stuff...nice big bag to hold it all :) And it's CUTE!

I love the hoodie, too. I'm kinda wishing it was cool enough to wear it, but they say it will be cooler again by the weekend which will be nice. Maybe I'll wear it to Vespers Saturday night.

If you're interested, they went to Birmingham, York, London, Glasgow, Cardiff, Dundee, Whitby and a few other places besides. And had a blast.

Not Edinburgh ?? that was a shame :(

They certainly saw plenty of the UK

I don't remember. I don't think so? Maybe, I'll have to ask tomorrow. They didn't like Glasgow much :p

And yes they did! It's a last hurrah before they start Uni in two weeks' time (uni starts for us the same day as Lent, oh yay)

Good morning everyone.

The kids are out of school so I actually got to sleep past 8 am for once. The past week has been rough here, and will only get worse the closer we get to standardized testing time (my special needs kid literally freaks over those tests every year). I always dread this time of year.

At this moment everything is quiet though. (Glory to God for all things!)

I'm having my coffee and wondering if I can make this last pound of beans last until my husband has a business trip to a coffee-producing country again. He's spoiled me and I don't want to go back to grocery store coffee. My vote is for Panama. I doubt my preference for best coffee beans will factor into the decision for where they will send him though.

Anyone seen Nutroll arround lately? I wonder what is new with him???

I've been around a little behind the scenes. I am doing really well lately. I met a wonderful Orthodox woman on the internet, and we've been emailing and IMing and talking on the phone now for almost 3 months. Well this past weekend she came to visit. We had a really great time together. We got to go to Church together, we visited the Antiochian Village and looked at the icons there. We got to spend Valentine's Day together. I gave her a hand-painted icon of her patron saint, and she gave me her favorite prayer rope. It was the best weekend I can ever remember having. Sadly she had to go home to Idaho today, but we will be seeing eachother again as soon as we can arrange it. I am very, very happy, and already starting to make some plans for the future. :)

I am suddenly reminded of the old Onion Dome article on making romantic pilgrimages...

Come up with a plausible alternate excuse for the trip. For most girls, the idea of a boy traveling 500 miles just to see her kind of freaks her out. Think of something else in the neighborhood worth seeing. During coffee hour after Liturgy at her church, people will ask, "What brings you out here?" Don’t say, "I’ve always wanted to venerate the tablecloth upon which St. Tikhon rested his elbow in 1911."

Thanks for the prayers Isaac, I'm sure we can use them. And thanks to you Michael. How much lead time do you need to make a special wedding beer... maybe something with vanilla flavor...? Just out of curiosity of course... ;)

One to two months for a beer. I am going to start the yeast starter for double bock tomorrow morning, which means I will be able to start the double bock on Sat. The vanilla double bock will have to wait 2 weeks for the double bock to go through primary fermentation before I can start it. Mrs. G wants me to be brewing more right now than I am, so I need to get to work at it. A guy at church on Sunday gave me a great idea for building a little brewery building in my backyard...
