A number of years ago a local church in the Pittsburgh area had a number of iconographers (myself included) bid on writing their church for them. The price I quoted them was WAY under the going rate for a church that size. The parish council had more than enough money to pay even the person who had the highest bid (almost 2x my bid), and I know that because the parish council president told me that himself. And yet, the parish decided to do nothing. All this church had in it was an iconostasis and that was what the people there were used to and they were offended at spending so much money on something like icons.

WOW...when I think of what HTOC is working towards, and the cost...I'm not intimidated by it...just keep praying God provides more to give towards making it happen

Check out this Orthodox statue of St Nicholas. I love it, and it holds on to the spiritual attributes that I cherish so much in painted Iconography.

Howdy everyone!

So, how many clergymen does it take to serve an Orthodox Liturgy?

Answer: 2 Bishops, and Archmandrite, 6 Priests, and 8 acolytes! (And a partridge in a pear tree!)

Yep, we were clergy heavy today!

As the Archangel Michael is the patron saint of the Atlanta Greek Orthodox Diocese, and yesterday was his feast day, we had a HUGE heirarchal liturgy today!

I was impressed though, we got it done in 2 hrs, which isn't bad for a heirarchal liturgy IMHO. I've seen some take as long as 2 1/2 hours with just one bishop!!

We haven't had deacons in our parish for a long time...2 are being ordained the first week of Dec...by ArchBishop Job

I'm looking forward to both the visit and the Ordination

The only time I have seen Deacons at DL was when I was at the Monastery last year - there were 2 and one was about 6 Foot and very slim and the other was not over 5ft 6 - if he was that - and somewhat corpulent . The contrast was very marked
