Good morning, overseas friends.

Just spent a few days in Brittany*, such a beautiful country with plenty of celtic churches.

*the place, not Michael's dog.
Morning Emmanuel!

Michael I am impressed with you planting and all!!

The trip killed us... but the people are so nice :) and we love that area.

when we move down there permanately (hopefully sometime this summer) we could meet all of you living in the PA area. I was so shocked to see that there are Orthodox theology classes at the community colleges ...you guys are so lucky I hope my daughter will have the priveledge to take a few cources when she goes to college there.

God bless,
Philothei

Good morning everyone! I just realized Sunday is Mother's Day and I haven't sent my mom anything and now I don't think it will get there on time. She's homebound (gonna need a leg amputated because she got staph in it from knee replacement surgery) so restaurant gift cert. won't work and flowers won't work because of her allergies! I really messed up!!!

Anatole,

Does your mom like to read? Amazon can get stuff there pretty quick.

That's scary about the leg. My mom has a knee with no cartilage, and I am having her put the surgery off as long as possible. SHe is taking a lot of glucosamine/chondroitin, and actually says it is helping.

No, she doesn't read unless it's about prescription drugs (shes a serious hypochondriac!!!) She has managed to have about the most miserable life you can have.
It is a real shame. Check out very carefully the background of the hospital your mom gets surgery in. You should be able to find out what percentage of patients get staph. My brother didn't obviously do that beforehand! The hospital he put her in had a 20% staph record!

Wow, that's awful! My mom is so scared of getting surgery, I think she will have to be in perpetual torment before she has the surgery. The bad thing is, she cleans houses for a living, so it is real hard on her. she really does think the glucosamine has helped a lot, she has been taking it for 4 months.

Back to Mother's Day, almost any gift you can think of can be ordered online and shipped expedited. Is there anything she might like that you could order?

My mom has decided finally to come to my sons high school graduation on June 2nd. Other than going to the doctors this will be her 1st time away from home in 3 years! My brother is a paramedic so she'll be in good hands if she gets sick or faints while she's here.
We're having our basement finished with a semi-universal bathroom so she can be comfortable. Luckily we have a walkout basement so we'll put a door on the back of our garage and that will go straight to our backyard and she can walk on solid ground to the basement doors. Then she won't need to do any stairs. Last time she saw my kids my son was 13 and my daughter was 11. I've been to Texas to visit her, but they haven't because of school, summer camps, and marching band practices. I'm excited for her to be able to finally see her grandkids!!!
