  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You going to tile my bathroom for me as well? There is carpet on the floor in my bathroom, so as soon as I am done with the two rooms I am working on I am going to tear the carpet out and put tile in. I am thinking I should put in a new sink too because the walls are tiled in off white tile and with a beige sink the room looks so bland. I can't stand earthen tones. I need color! :D

We're just doing the walls. I'm thinking white tiles to make it brighter in there with "dots" with roses on them. When dh pulled out the tub to fix the plumbing some months ago, we had to take out the tiles which were blandly earth toned. Luckily he has a separate bathroom in our room as well.

It's the luxury of our house that we have two bathrooms in the master bedroom. I used to think it was overkill but it's really nice to have my own space with girl decor while his is hunter green.

Since you have an older home, maybe those hexagon floor tiles would be cool. I think they are available in different color patterns.

Hi guys.

Just wanted to say, the Liturgy was amazing, and I was very, very comfortable there. It's not a huge parish, but it definitely doesn't lack in beauty, and everyone was very friendly. Several people there know my Grandparents, and even remember me from when I was very young growing up in Elkhorn. It seems I already have some family history within the parish. :D

I can't wait to go back.

I was surprised, though -- I wasn't expecting to recieve the antidoron. I know that it's Orthodox-exclusive in some parishes, but not in mine.

All in all, though, I believe I've found my home.

evening TAW

Skipped church today...walked around St. Augustine instead, and went to the beach. One thing that annoys me though...I never have been able to see the inside of the St. Augustine Cathedral.

bad girl skipping church to go to the beach :p

That's so cool, that you had a good first visit.

PS. Antidoron is always shared with everyone.

Well, hmmm! Today, my husband told me that he's going to see the editor of Skeptic Magazine when he comes to town for a lecture. I wish he'd stop reading that magazine.

In other news, I sat down with Father, explained some of the medical issues and told him that I was ready to be chrismated. Unfortunately I have a ton of dcotor appointments this week, so I can't meet with him until next week to discuss it in detail.

Congratulations on being ready to be chrismated! I'm sorry about the health issues though. :crosseo:

Maybe you should make him read E.F. Schumacher's A Guide for the Perplexed. I read a selection from that for a philosophy class and it rocked my world.

I wish you weren't in the situation you're in that's made you need to join the Church quickly, but I give you my congratulations aside from that.

Hey Michael - are you there?

It was a bummer not having the Stillers playing today. I have a question for you...
Last week, the kids told me that they saw Polamalu get up after a play and cross himself the right way (Orthodox). I'm not sure they saw it right.

He's not Orthodox, is he?

Good morning, everyone!

Blake Michael, I'm glad you had a good visit. Kamikat, sympathy and congratulations combined in a big

I've got to clean up my desk and get some serious work done. I'm vowing no visits to GH until I have this memo done!

Good morning to those doing nightshifts whose dog have virility problems and cry, to those who have a stormtrooper friend, a kid that can ride a bike, a skeptic husband, medical appointments and are about to be chrismated, to geeks who spend saturday mornings being hungry and sleepy in a library, to those who just attended their first DL and feel good, to girls who skip church to go to the beach, to those who are covering their bathroom walls with tiles and whose children can cook sausages, and needless to say, to other friends.
