I think perhaps Tx and Pa have a simlar cost of living.
No, I got a really incredibly good deal on the house I am buying, mostly because it was my grandpap's and the family wanted to keep the house in the family.

Yeah, we got that deal, too. My grandad had been the first owner, then dad owned it. We got it for about 50,000 less than the going rate.

My mortgage price includes $30k that I am putting into the house in upgrades in windows, furnace, a garage, fenced in yard etc. That should give you an idea of just how little I paid for the house itself. I just wish there was a way I could thank my grandpap and have him understand...

Hi all, I took my cat to the vet and just now got home.

I thought she had hairballs and had been treating her with the grocery store tube of nasty fish smelling jell for about three weeks and she wasn't getting better. She would wake from a sound sleep hacking and did it all day at least a dozen times or more a day anyway.

Well, the vet said that she had bronchitis and said she has allergies. He says this time of year he sees this often.

I think this is so ironic. I have allergies too and often get asthmatic style bronchitis.

Anyway, he gave her a shot and said it will last about 6 to 8 weeks and she might not need another one as the worse of the allergy season should be over by then.

I am just so glad I took her in! She is 11 years old (which means he said she is in her early to mid 60's compared to adults.)

The royalty check is for an icon being published on the cover of a book. You gotta love that!
Congratulations. I usually find out after the fact that my icons were used, and then just hope that they give my name. A few weeks ago the Church Messenger apparently used an icon of the Dormition that I painted, but said that it it was painted by Paul Garrett, which is my Dad's name. I had someone ask me at church whether he was painting icons, or I never would have known. Apparently they corrected it, but I had already called to congratulate my Dad.

Thank you. And yes, I know what you mean about people using your work and then finding out about it later. It is a shame poople don't respect artists enough to give them the proper credit for their work, and to reimburse them for using their work.

I came home from work and looked at my son, who agreed that we should have closed it down LAST weekend, but neither of us was in town!

Everything in the neighborhood is flying into it right now. My, what a breeze.
Yea, brrrrrreeeeezzzzzeeeeeee is the word...

I've been doing laundry and embroidery all day and cleaned some... I've got a fair share to do tomorrow and then Sunday the hubs will be home... they're on US soil now at least. And no 'bird flu' as of now...

On a brighter note (than the weather), I get to go to DL this Sunday. It's been two weeks since I've been. The radio station has honored my request to be put on a "call me when you need me" part-time status, so I can begin attending every Sunday. I feel bad that they asked me to come to the Men's Club meeting the last time I was at church (the meeting was last Monday), but because I had to be out of town for the weekend, I had promised my son I'd take him through the neighborhood so he could sell popcorn for his boy scout troop.

Don, do any women cover at the parish you attend? As far as I've understood they're not as ethnic as the cathedral down here on Granby. I'm heading down to Chesapeake to the ROCOR church this Sunday.

On another note... I finally got to change colors on my embroidery after a week and a half with the same one. That bluish green was getting a bit booooring. But I've been plugging away on the work every day so hopefully it will be getting there soon. I'm working on the big areas like the clothes right now (It's the icon of the Holy Trinity).
Well, you have to let us know when 'need basis' comes around so we can listen again!
I took down my windsocks and wind chime because it would have just driven everyone nuts or even flown off.

I hear siding flapping in the breeze out there. It's outside my kitchen window, so I'm assuming that it's the siding on the screened porch... I'll inspect tomorrow.

The women covering seems to change weekly at St. Nicholas. Some weeks I see no one covering. Two weeks ago I saw several (still, not many). It is not as ethnic as what I hear Annunciation is. It's a very, VERY good mix of Greeks, Russians, and converts. I really do love this parish.

Where did you get the pattern for this icon?

I am working on learning to knit right now but after Christmas I have promised myself I am going to get out my cross stitch. I have Christ as the good shepherd pattern but it is not an icon style, it is a western style. Still, I do like the pattern. It is just so intricate!
