I just got a gander at the list of moderators of this forum.

Some of the names are a bit surprising, and that's using a much more polite word than the one I had in mind.

Time to disappear for good, I think, maybe.

Most of them aren't directly moderating TAW, they're just part of the Congregation forum moderators. I've never seen most of them here.

As for the moderators, most of them are supervisors for the congregational areas, but don't actually do any moderating.

Yes, finally changed my icon to where my heart had been for months.

Now comes the interesting, hard part..doing more than having just casual conversations with priests and and actually asking to become a catechumen.

Did you notice that Father Gregory is now on the Executive Team?

Erwin did some dramatic changes, and set up Alpha for ordained ministers, so we now have an Orthodox Priest in Alpha.
I recommended him to Erwin and he was in.

I had posted about www.byzcath.org and their set up. I think it inspired Erwin to go with his dream of having a ministerial alpha.

And I think it is working pretty good.

Do you still post over at byzcath? I do occasionally. It has some interesting threads from time to time.

Byzcath is not Orthodox. It is still under the Pope, even if it looks Orthodox...

byzcath is open to Orthodox and they have Orthodox priests and laity serving on their moderation team. Father Anthony, a Greek Hieromonk, serves on the Administration.

It is a good little board and it runs quite smoothly especially with the Priests and Deacons urging everyone to be charitable and kind. The moderation is very open too and that is good. People are encouraged to apologize and can ask for moderator input right on the threads without any rule violations. The only rule is KINDNESS.


And I must make a disclaimer
I have never been a moderator at that site.

I made some people mad because I referred to the Coptic Pope Shenouda III as simply "Shenouda." I didn't mean any offense really, but they wouldn't believe me. It seemed strange to me that it was okay to type "JPII" to refer to Pope John Paul II but anathema to refer to the Coptic Pope as "Shenouda."

Go figure.

I decided at the time that it was best to move along.

Wow! Every board has their anathemas.
I guess you never know what word is an emotional trigger word. Trial and error. Yes, some people are extremely sensitive, too sensitive.

Byzcath is a fun board, though, with lots of good people.

The ecumenical thing is the big drawback, as with so many things today.

I think that's why they were rough on any possible insults to minority religious groups, whether real or imagined (in my case, they imagined that I was trying to insult the Coptic Pope).

Still, I wasn't banned or anything. I just tired of the noise.
