I wouldn't mind having a Grolsch as well, even if it's not the best lager.

Of course it is not the best lager, it is from Holland (Niederlande) and not from Deutschland! (Germany). Die beste Bier des Welt kommt aus Deutschland!

My latest discovery..
Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA (India Pale Ale)

Dogfishhead 90 Minute IPA on tap is a delicacy! I have the 60 Minute in my fridge right now. It is a bit pricey though, about $45 for a case of the 90 minute and arround $30 for a case of the 60 minute. A friend of mine in Cleveland owns a tavern and that is where I first tasted the 90 minute on tap! Cheers to your awesome beer taste!

Aus Deutschland ?!? Hmmm, some german beers are not too bad, but I would have rather said the best beers come from Belgium (Belgium being at the west of Rheinland ).

Alles gut kommt aus Deutschland!!! A Belgian Ale is good, but is nothing compared to a German Hefeweizen! Koelsch is also better than Belgian Ales, IMHO. But the best German bier has to be some of the Alt Biers and Bocks that come out of Southern Germany!

Samichlausbier from Austria is a very dark, very highly alcoholic bier that is absolutely awesome! You should try some!

(BTW, there are those of us who view Austria as being part of the cultural Germany, even if it was politically kicked out of Germany after the Austro-Pruessen War of 1866).

The last time we were in Germany (2001) I tried the white Bier. It was good, but I'm not sure I'd have it often. It seemed to be more for the ladies.

Yes, that was it... wheat Bier... But I only saw women drinking it! It was rather refreshing after we had been walking all over the place, visiting museums and such. It was a rather warm day too.

Weihenstephaner is good bier! I have Paulaner Hefeweizen in my fridge.

That is interesting that you only saw women drinking weizen in Germany because all of my american friends who know anything about bier love weizen!
