Oh man Don, you missed a good game tonight! We didn't get there until the end of 6th inning and then Richmond was up 1-0, end of 9th the Tides got two runs (second one was out of the park). Place was screaming...
Oh and why we didn't get there til 6th... ;) We took some other friends to Gordon Biersch. But it's free parking then LOL. And with this heat it was just as well.

Last night's game was good as well! We stayed in the picnic area the entire time, where we had a much better view of the game than we would have had we taken our seats in section 312! My son ended up getting a practice ball from one of the players from Richmond.

Looks like you and Gordon have got something good going on! Aren't we in another fast on Tuesday? I keep running out of time or opportunities to get there and really enjoy it.

DL at St. Nicholas was excellent today. I have an appointment with Fr. Jim on Wednesday to discuss a few of the questions I've been waiting to ask him, and to just get to know him a little better. He's come into this parish on the heels of the pastor who started the church 25 years ago, so I'm hoping he will like hearing from a new guy who's chosen this parish because of the way he runs the place. I've offered to help get the word out on their annual golf tournament in September, and have TRIED to get information about upcoming activities with GOYA so I can introduce my son to that organization, and hopefully help him to make some friends his own age through church. He has a very tough time relating to anyone who isn't an adult, or a few years younger than he is.

Good morning to those who use dynamite in their garden, to those who are going to be grandmothers in a few months, to those who are into mexican food, mexican restaurants and mexican stuff, to those who are considered for a major promotion a work and need prayers, to those who box frozen french fries and cans of soup for free and are good at it, to those who heard Mac Athur Park for the first time and to those who don't get that song, to those who go to DL by public transports, to bad girls who skipped church, to those who had a picnic and saw a nice game, to those who went at Gordon Biersh again and to other friends.

You do, I don't! :D Still old calendar here. It works great for Thanksgiving and not so great for Christmas (food wise). Other than that, I actually love celebrating Christmas after the whole commercial part of it is over. We're staying in VA this Christmas and I can't wait. Going to FL doesn't do Christmas for me at all. Going to Finland is a bit better but it's just tiring and lots of folks flying. I've invited everyone in our families who want to come visit to do so, but I don't think there will be too many.

Oh well, I've got 5 days to straighten out this house and finish laundry and packing. And a bunch of other things...

Have a good day everyone!

Exciting news: God willing, at the end of August I'm going to Mount Athos with my spiritual father!! Iviron monastery invited my SF to attend the feast of the Theotokos (he is a bishop) and apparently I can go as well, with my father and my brother.

AWESOME :)

Good Morning, folks! I'm back! I had a blast! At the recpetion, I ended up next to the Anglical Bishop who performed the ceremony. He was an interesting gentleman. The priest who assist in the ceremony got hammered and we ended up in a very heated discussion, what a hoot!

That is exactly the word that comes to my mind too. AWESOME :D.
Iveron, for those who don't know, was originally founded by Iberions (now known as Georgians) though it is currently mostly populated with Greek monks at present. It is home to the miracle working icon of Panagia Portaitissa.

Hi everyone.

I'm hoping some of you will visit the Outreach. There is a question on Post Canonical Guidance which is begging for an Orthodox Christian response.

http://www.christianforums.com/showthread.php?postid=25654855#post25654855

If you remember to only respond to the OP, you will do fine as Outreach forums are not debate forums as is TAW.

And this is why you rarely see me in TAW except in the fellowship threads. I really hate debates.

I will invite the guy over here to your OPEN threads.

Beautiful pictures, John.

Oh BTW, was that Icon the very one that Joseph was carrying around the world before he was killed?
