Very few people understand there is actually no DOWNTOWN Pittsburgh, but rather Dahntahn!

My father couldn't pronounce his "r"s .... he was from Rhode Island.

I lived there for twelve years after moving from NYC at 16.
The accent drove me nuts and they kept insisting I had an accent!! lol

The people of northern WV, as well as in the state's northern panhandle tend to have the same sort of accent as Pittsburghers, though slightly diluted. They still say "Yinz," and order "pop" instead of "soda." When my friend starts talking about how she's redoing her bathroom, I have to listen closely because she refers to the hard surface that will cover her floor as "new towl."

It's a great shade of grey with a hint of pahrple.
Her husband's puttin' it dahn for har.

Howdydoo! Hope you all NC folks had a good feast day. It was very pretty here at New Valamo. Kind of wish I had been in Helsinki as it's the feast of the cathedral. Word is the Archbishop will come here tomorrow but we'll see.

HAPPY FEAST DAY!

Liturgy was beautiful today.

On Sunday, we sang the Hymn of St. Nectarios to the Theotokos translated and put to music by Bishop BASIL of the Antiochians.

It was so beautiful.
