I've been moving furniture around for the last several days. Between helping ppl move, and driving around to grap the (good condition and working) stuff left behind from the Great College-Student Migration Moveout that happens every August (for myself and others, we managed to get 2 loveseats, a loft bed, an upholstered chair, a heavy oak dining table, 4 chairs that match each other to go around it, an expensive area rug, half a dozen torchiere lamps, power cables for a computer, a set of computer speakers, a pool table, gambling surfaces (like craps), a wood-armed futon, 3 end/coffee tables, a bookcase, and a handful of odd and ends,) I'm pretty tired.
It's AMAZING that you dont need to buy ANYTHING to furnish a home if you're here at the right time of the year, but it's also saddening to see how much usuable stuff is thrown away. People throw out clothes, kitchen goods, food, and just about everything. If they took the time to drop it off at goodwill, much could be given to the poor.
