I've been doing some studies on atonement models and their Scriptural support, and I seem to be struggling to identify what Scriptures are used to support the apocalyptic view of the world that underlies Christus Victor. There seems to be a great deal of discussion surrounding Christ's death and resurrection as a victory over the hostile powers, but not much sketching of the motif of mankind subject to hostile powers with that motif seemingly taken for granted. What are some of the support texts for the apocalyptic and nearly dualistic themes that the motif of hostile powers set against humanity that Christ must overcome are built on?
