  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Everything I've heard from friends who got to see advance screenings was that it wasn't worth it. And they saw it for free. They really felt it was a let-down.

I personally won't be seeing it unless I'm forced into it because someone rents the video and somehow my computer and all my books aren't available to me. I hated Spiderman 1 and everyone raved about it.... I thought that was a waste of intellectual functions, so there's no way I'm going off the critics again for this one.

The only way I think they'll get me into a Spiderman movie is with Venom and Carnage. That'll get me to come watch. What do you think - Vin Deisel as Venom? Big, bulky, bald guy with another sort of anti-hero role?

This movie.......this movie....wow. I felt like I was 10 years old again watching it. This is the comic book movie I've been waiting my whole life to see. I spent the entire 2 and a half hours grinning like an idiot and wanting to stand up and cheer. I cannot give this flick high enough praise. Just magnificent. When he was swinging around the city and the woman yelled "Go Spidey go!" I had to keep myself from shouting it too. Can't wait to see it again.

I'm sure they come, but it'll be down the line.

My husband and little girl (age 5) LOVE Spiderman...she just got the Web Blaster at the toystore, so she's been shooting spiderwebs all over my house. ;) I really liked the first movie and I'm so looking forward to seeing the 2nd. It sounds like it will be great. Emily wants to see it at the theater, but I'm not too sure. Usually I watch a movie like that first so that I can cover her eyes when the inappropriate parts come on (scary stuff or sexy stuff). But, I'm sure it will be something that we'll add to our DVD collection.

Heather, i'd preview it first as well. there are a couple 'scary' scenes like doc ock in the hospital that Raimi used to give homage to 'evil dead' where you might want to cover some eyes. i laughed at that scene only because of the reference but it could definately freak out a 5 yr old.

LOL, maybe I should get my hubby to cover my eyes, too, then. I'm a big chicken. ;)

hehehe, it's not that bad really, no blood, just campy violence (still violent hence the concern for the youngster) folks get tossed around but nothing graphic that i recall.

Maybe I should make Mark (my hubby) take me on a date to go check it out first. If I act right, he might even buy me some popcorn. ;)

I'm guessing that none of your friends that have seen it were Spiderman fans, and maybe even down right hate spiderman.

I personally won't be seeing it unless I'm forced into it because someone rents the video and somehow my computer and all my books aren't available to me. Spiderman was good but not great. I would hardly call it a waste of intellectual functions.

The only way I think they'll get me into a Spiderman movie is with Venom and Carnage. That'll get me to come watch. What do you think - Vin Deisel as Venom? Big, bulky, bald guy with another sort of anti-hero role?

Vin Deisel as Eddie Brock?!? Okay, yeah... This confims what I was suspecting, that you just don't get Spiderman at all.

I loved it! It was more into 'Peters' head--and you saw his guild, love, and compassion. Lots of action. Lots for everybody. I want to see it again!
Same here. Just got back a couple hours ago and it was awesome. The only dissapointment for me was that it seemed about an hour and a half too short. LOL Kinda like when you were a kid on the roller coaster and then the guy goes and stops the ride.

I have seen it and it is great and much better and without giving much away, here are some hints:
Much more buffed Spidey
Much more better villian than the much maligned Green Goblin
Much more plot lines between the actors
Don't look if you want to stop reading here but
Spidy loses his "powers"
Also Spiderman is tackling on way, way, way, too much "work" in front of him
MJW becomes famous
Also a much darker side of Harry
Also a much closer bond to Peter and his Aunt May
