  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

With two children under 3, I have no personal space at home. And my prayer closet is currently housing my wife's collection of clothes..:D

But the hospital I work at has a chapel with a seperate prayer room, and I usually make time at least once a day to go seclude myself with the Lord.

Yeah I know what you mean...but then that can make you only want to pray at the specific time/place that you find prayer most comfortable in, which can then make you not pray as often...well that's what I found...so I tend to not do it anymore...I pray when and where ever

I find my longest prayers occur in the car...no phone ringing, doorbell, cats purring, dogs barking....the most majestic place is sitting on the tailgate of my truck, parked in the middle of the horse pasture. Other than that, walking down the hall, in the bathtub, cooking....wherever and whenever! :)

Your prayer closet is not a physical place, it is a spiritual place. My morning prayers are often just like you would imagine in an old fashioned way. Kneeling by my bed. But that can become an idol, so I force myself to change the location fairly often.

It is not a place, it is an attitude.

Oh, I pray throughout the day (working for Uncle Sam just begs for prayer :p ). I hit the chapel at different times, whenever I can get there. I use that time as an extended, quiet time with the Lord.

I pray just about anywhere... its all good... but I love to go to my church when there's no one else around - like getting to youth group an hour early when there are a couple people downstairs but that's it... then I go up the the top of the balcony in the back of the sanctuary... that pew has been my favorite place for the last couple years... I spend a long time up there, praying, worshipping, sometimes just resting... I don't know what it is about it, but that's the most comfortable place in the world for me...

The best times of fellowship I have ever had with the Lord are the times when I have been on a golf course (not playing golf), or on a wide beach on the coast. I amble along with my hands in my pockets, chatting with God. I call it 'having a good yarn' (NZ idiom).

I can imagine God walking along with His hands in his pockets too, ambling along with me, chatting with me.

These days, living in the middle of a city where it is unsafe to go out in the middle of the night, and having too many commitments to get myself away to a lonely place, I have used Brother Lawrence's revelation of practicing the presence of God anywhere I happen to be. I have prayed with my hands in the sink doing the dishes, driving down the motorway, in my bed in the small hours, or just sitting in my chair thinking.

I never share my prayer life with anyone. It is my secret time with God. These days I find it hard to go to prayer meetings, because I don't like praying in front of others.

But I will if I am ministering in the Spirit to someone - that's different.

Sometimes it can be a place especially when you have a unsaved husband who gets mad when ya won't come to bed & kids who never leave you alone at home to find a quiet spot, so yes i find sometimes that a place does matter ;)
