Hey everybody,

I am actually about to begin recruiting full-time team members for a traveling evangelistic music theater company based in Australia. I thought I'd post this up in here, both so people knew about the opportunity, and to get reactions and thoughts from fellow thespians.

It is a full-time missionary group that will be doing full-length musicals, Broadway style, and traveling around Australia (and eventually elsewhere in the world for short-term trips). Each team member will be a full-time missionary, raising financial and prayer support like a "normal" missionary would.

What are some thoughts and reactions on this? What other questions you would have before you'd be able to give proper reactions, etc.?

I think it's cool. I think I've been called to a Drama/Theatre ministry, and so would support you in encouragement and prayer. However, I am sadly not wired for Musical Theatre (Unless God suddenly blesses me with a singing voice, and better dance skills ).

I must say though, that the theatre industry in Australia can be quite daunting. Our grant systems, etc. don't often provide the best opportunities for artists (at least in Queensland), so you might like to look at some form of steady funding (A suscriber group? Or supporting church?)
I say this in no way to discourage you, and in no way to insult your credibility... I am simply responding. After all... if it's what God is calling you for, it shall be done, right?

I think it's a cool idea anyway, considering you get the talent needed.
I do have one question: How much do you know about the Australian Theatre scene (as your profile says you're from the States), and how on earth did God reveal this to you?
I ask these out of curiosity.
