I totally agree with you Nadiine. It is supposed to be a fun thing. Each of us are given either 20 or 40 (Site Supporters) a day. Those are our reps to do with however we please.

However, if we are being pressured into repping someone it sure does take the fun out of it and then resentment sets in. I don't want that for any of us here. That would just make this not worth doing at all.

I mean, I could go anywhere on the board and rep whomever I want. I come here for the fellowship that I've developed along the way. To me, that's far more important than reps.

Now I do understand how she feels as I've been there before. But as I said, I changed how I felt about it because I didn't like how it was making me feel. I realized my attitude was not good and it was effecting how I felt towards others. Once I let that go and just enjoyed giving out my reps that made a difference. For it truly is better to give than receive.
Hi Two, I do see both sides (& trust me, I was on the bottom of the totem pole for a good year or more)... but I think people are taking these things just a bit too seriously or something at this point:scratch: . Maybe it IS a real problem that needs addressing.

My husband walked by my computer yesterday & was shocked to see my pages of LISTS I keep so I don't miss people.
Probly all but 3 of my reppies are spoken for in a day to where I'm just not free to sit in threads to help people move up like that.
& if others have free reps to do that, HAVE FUN & DO THAT. It's about joy & fun... maybe that's why CF had kept a rule that we couldn't ask for reps? food for thought.

I think you hit the nail on the head about dealing with YOURSELF first. It all starts with us.

In rosey's case, I saw her open a thread for brand newbies to just give out free reppies to help & SHE GOT LIKE 3 PEOPLE take interest on her thread offering to help them (she has 9 stars)...

I can't get people to do any new threads either where I was trying to get us all together to play simple games & rep... but hey, if they don't want to play, then don't play.

I started 2 new ones.

I know some threads take off and some don't.

I tend to try to give out thank you reps if someone reps me by surprise besides other people.
if you notice, MOST DON'T. dont' ask me why.

I opened two threads hoping to get a response from those just starting out.

The thread I started yesterday where I asked those without a star to post and I would give them a free hug filled reppie...I got very little response.

I am repping on Bella Song's and your thread for those without a star.

And I also rep back everyone who reps me as well as those whom I have become friendly with. We all started out with no stars and as time goes on, our rep points build up.

Please be encouraged. I look at a rep as a hug from someone not as a power or ego thing. And I think most people feel the same way.
I think I will rep this post

;)

As a starless poster, can I just say that I don't know who you are refering to Shali, however I now that quite a few of the posters to reply to your thread are very prolific reppers (thanks Ctay, RepDaddy and others, sorry I can't remember all of your names). Perhaps the people you are refering to haven't replied to this thread, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I think you guys are doing the right thing!

I also wanted to say that I am hoping to get my star so that I can use my rep "power" to build up and edify people in other sub-forums. I already try to give good rep comments when I see a good post, but to be able to give 1 000 points when I see a good post would be awesome. So if I get a star I might not be posting in this sub-forum a lot, but I would still be sharing the reps!

That's the same reason why I started trying to get reps in the first place - my "home" has been the congretation/theology areas & few rep one another there. :)idea: maybe they just don't care about reps! lol)^_^
I save a handful of my reps for those areas...

I'll do the old "bump" to some of mine & give them another go.
I'd mention that we ARE trying to make threads for people to enjoy, BUT THEY AREN'T PLAYING ON THEM. I can't help that.

Oh, one thing I wanted to mention to Shali... if you look around, most of the high reppers don't "PLAY" in the threads. That's also why it looks like high reppers aren't repping lower reps... they aren't "circulating" like you guys are.
You guys DO play & all that. I don't see alot of high reppers participating on all these threads, but they ARE going around repping behind the scenes. Some have mentioned to me that if they were to do that, they get so many people repping them that they can't return them anyways.

So there are reasons for what you see going on.
 :)

A lot of times I'll go into a thread and not post but give out a rep to someone random. So I agree with you Nadiine that a lot of us don't "play" some of the threads. I've started two threads this morning and have only gotten one reply to one of the threads. :sigh:

Perhaps you are right, perhaps a lot of people don't care about reps. But I know how it makes me feel to see reps for a good post. And also how it felt to get blessings when I was a newbie (I also give most of my blessings to newbies). So that is why I do it.

Nadiine, its your not your fault if some of the threads you make take off, they are all good ideas, its just what hits people at the moment if they want to do them or not, you do a great job here
Thanks Ctay.
Well part of my reasons for trying so many is selfish - frankly, I'm bored of the "slap a rep on me" and leave the threads.
I wanted some fun & fellowship along w/ rep passing - but it's beginning to look like people just want those threads of standing in line for a rep put in the hand & leave.
All threads have their place & I don't want to spend all my time if I'm limited in time playing games for reps... sometimes I DO just want to pass reps & not fellowship along w/ them -- but the ones that seem to crank are just the ones that you rep & leave. or "give me a rep/get me to my next star" threads.

It seems like that's what people want & care about more than fellowship/fun ones from the looks of what keeps failing (no matter HOW easy they are).
Welp, so be it. (AS LONG AS I GET MY REPS IN A DAY, WHO GIVES A RIP :p ) lol

After having had a look for your, ctay's, RoseyK's and twob4me's threads. From what I can see these threads require some "effort" have not taken off, while others which just require people to post to get reps have. So you could very well be right about your last sentence.

But each of your threads have been good, and it is just a shame that people don't want to learn, or edify others while getting their reps. Sorry I won't be able to post in all of your threads I have to go to bed soon.

Repaholics proclaim that reps are what it is about here... but we know that is not the case. It is about building a caring community.

RD 2:46 (RepStandard Version)

Actually I see more of the proclaiming of the reps than the existence of a caring community! We all need to really work on creating one and perhaps brainstorm and work on the sort of ideal community we want to create here ..

It's an internal thing - until people view this differently, that's what we'll have: standing in line with a hand out & demanding more. Maybe that's what this subforum will end up being - just by its nature.
Is it greed? I dunno.
