Ancient people noticed what you have noticed. Only humans wear clothes. They then made up an explanation for it. The phenonemon of clothes caused the imaginary explanation - the explanation didn't cause the clothes.

Why do Adam and Eve always get the credence, when they are not even the first creation of mankind story in Genesis? As for getting a needle and thread from nowhere and sewing some figleaves together to make actual coverings, without even a sewing lesson, now is that likely?

Anyone who thinks it is, I would advise to try making a needle and thead out of wood and twine, and making themselves some leafy clothing to satisfy their modesty. That would soon sort the creationists from the - well, homo sapiens, really.
