Something doesn't feel right about BLM

Unfortunately you are very correct. This is a attack on America.

It is ironic that when one attacks racism one is "attacking America". Perhaps this is the sad state of our nation today. But we CAN be better. We CAN reach out and help.

I am not sure if America will survive.

With luck a NEW America will arise out of this. One in which racism is not so much an integral part of America that attacking racism = attacking America.

This protest is a break down of law and order,

Law and order implies that all parties are equally protected by that. The whole point of BLM is to show us the parts where law and order become a threat to the lives of those affected.

the radical factions and the criminals are going to milk this protest for all they can.

Let us hope that they do. Our nation is long overdue for a revamp of its approach to diversity, equity and inclusion.

You mean the end of systemic racism? Probably not. That's going to be a lot harder nut to crack. Perhaps it CAN, however, be a jumping off point for ALL of us to examine our actions and work toward a more just and equitable nation. One we can all be proud of.

But I think one of the things that unsettles me the most is the fact that just about every single company and celebrity, even overseas, have said that they are standing with BLM. Something about that tips me off as very blatant "virtue-signaling" and like they're using this to profit off of us. Maybe this last point has more to do with the companies and not the BLM movement itself,

Business marketing is ultimately driven by profits...and many business believe that clearly stating their values will bring them additional business.

...i've been hearing this same fear based argument for the last fifty years. I rejected it a long time ago.

IMO's the only thing that matters to Jesus and His Kingdom:
- each of us are made in the image of God
- in Christ there is no distinction of race or nationality.

Most of this fretting about BLM is just a tactic to avoid confronting the actual issues of current racism and the effects of historical racism that are still at play in America.

Unfortunately we didn't listen when the peaceful requests for our attention were made repeatedly for decade upon decade.

If only we had had the foresight and ability to understand what was needed when we were asked nicely. We are to blame for the anger building up. We ignored all the peaceful entreaties no we reap the whirlwind.
