That's because they think in terms of common ancestor, not common designer.

Only they call theirs "science" and ours "religion".

That is because common ancestry is testable, but common design is not. That is what makes common ancestry science and common design religion.

Hmmm.....yet, all mentioned are human beings....not following you...

We could also look at humans and lemurs sharing an ancestor. All mentioned are primates.

We could also mention humans and bears sharing an ancestor. All mentioned are mammals.

We could also mention humans and trout sharing an ancestor. All mentioned are jawed vertebrates.

Need I go on? If your only measure of whether two organisms share a common ancestor is whether or not you can describe them by the same name then you are admitting to more common ancestry than you seem to realize.

What about crows? Aren't they closer in intelligence to humans? Or Dolphins? :D

My friend, you are really starting to backslide badly. Is this a sign that you are actually coming around, perhaps? I have heard that creationists entrench their position just before it collapses on them... just remember... I am here for you buddy! ;)

Conversely, though, I believe that Genesis ought be taught as part of Science, since what is written can be considered hypotheses about ideas that proved to be modern theories.

Just what in Genesis 1 does not conform with science?

Certainly NOT Gen 1:1 = a Big Bang beginning of the heavens...
Genesis 1: The Theistic Evolutionary Creation

Certainly NOT Gen 1:2 = the molten spinning accretion disk of our Earth...
Genesis 1:2

Certainly NOT Gen 1:3 = darkness before the Stars formed...
Genesis 1:3

Certainly NOT Gen 1:9-10 = Pangea/Rodinia surrounded by all the water under heaven...
Genesis 1:9-10... the uncanny Geological and Geographical accuracy

Certainly NOT Gen 1:11-13 = the Plant kingdom forming before the Animal Kingdom...
Genesis 1:11-13

Certainly NOT Gen 1:14 = the first 24 hour day timing circadian life on Earth...
Gen 1:14, the Solar Clock and the rise of Circadian Rhytym

That reminds me of the bear and rabbi joke I posted sometime back :)

Beware the circumcision!

A RC Priest, a Pentecostal Preacher and a Rabbi...
...all served as chaplains to the students of Northern Michigan University in Marquette. They would get together two or three times a week for coffee and to talk shop.
One day, someone made the comment that preaching to people isn't really all that hard. A real challenge would be to preach to a bear.<snip>

That is because common ancestry is testable, but common design is not.
Only if you employ god-of-the-gaps technology and bridge the trillions of gaps that exist between atom-to-adam evolution.

You're a nut! ^_^
Only when I eat almond joys! :p

Some saw our Lord Jesus as a "nut" in the Gospels :sorry:

http://www.olivetree.com/cgi-bin/EnglishBible.htm

NKJV) Mark 3:20 Then the multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
21 But when His own people heard [about this,] they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, "He is out of His mind."
22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebub," and, "By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons."
23 So He called them to [Himself] and said to them in parables: "How can Satan cast out Satan?

I'm not sure what the point is of teaching that the bible predicts anything by retro-fitting what we know now into what was written in the past about something else.

Praise the Lord.

Yes, miracles do happen, and often doctors have no explanation.

I believe that the creation of man was a miracle, and scientists have yet to explain this.
Scientists are not allowed to explain miracles, even if they could. All scientific explanations must be naturalistic based on the myopic method.

Yeah, silly science for not addressing things it was never meant to address.
