Hello, im quite new here! Anyways, my parents brought me up as Christian and i remeber the first time i recieved lord as my savior, when i was 7! I'm 16 now...But anyways, even though I beileve in God and Jesus and everything elce, sometimes I wish I felt closer. I really want to feel the Lord and and everything. I pray that I will become closer, but I don't know what that exactly feels like, how will I know?

and also, me and my family dont really go to Church, and we ALL pray...but never ALL TOGETHER anymore, as a family. And we never even talk about the Lord and the Bible as a family. I guess im kind of embarassed too. And we have been to some churches, but my parents never seem to like them, because they are too phony or I dont know theyre real reasons. lately we all have just been caring about money problems and other stuff. But I guess im kinda embarassed to bring this up 2 them, what should i do? THANKS SO MUCH TO ANYONE!

We won't always "feel" the Lord's presence the way we want to. We just have to know that he is with us always. I know that probably isn't an answer that you want to hear but it's true. The only solution that I can think of is to stay in his word so that you will know him better. The more you know the Lord and his ways the closer you will get.

If it is something that you are concerned about maybe you should initiate a prayer time with your family. That may be something that God is trying to tell you to do. Prayer is very important. I've done a deep study of prayer with my fellowship group and if you want I can give you a few pointers on how to pray and receive the answer that you want. It's basically lining your will up with God's will and not the other way around. When your will is in line with God's then you will pray for God's will to be done.

I guess im kind of embarassed too.

Mark 8:38 - Be radical in your belief of christ. The only way to become radical for Christ is by increasing your faith. You increase your faith by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17)

lately we all have just been caring about money problems and other stuff.

Make sure that you don't get too caught up with your money problems. God will always take care of your needs (Philippians 4:19). But you may have to go without your wants for a little while. Sacrifice these things for God. He is more important. Don't let money become an idol. Hope this helps! You'll be in our prayers! :prayer:

Prayerfully study The Bible ( KJV ) use Dictionaries , ( English , and Strong's Concordance ) look up the meaning of the words within the verses that ring true in your mind .

Ask God for the Holy Spirit to fill you with His Presence , In Jesus Name .

I've done this myself , and the only times I've not consciously sensed The Lord in my life as a ready and able Aid , and Watchful protective Guardian , are those times when I foolishly allowed myself to be drawn away from the things of God , by temptations of vanity or vice .

It may take a little while for the penchant for straying to die completely .

But one thing is certain , that die it must !

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. <-----> Galatians 5:24+25

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me . <-----> Galatians 2:20

Let's see you've gone from asking for help as one who knows not how to be close to the Lord , in the OP , to now claiming you know how to instruct others on how to ask and receive from God ?

Why do I get the impression that some of the posters here are playing around , taking attention away from people who sincerely seek advice ?

Maybe , you're just bouncing back and forth between feeling needy and feeling full ?

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. <-----> Psalm 37:3-6

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. <-----> Proverbs 16:3

Consistency is the key to developing sweet harmony .

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. <-----> John 8:31+32

For when concepts become experiences , our thoughts are confirmed or annulled .

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. <-----> Romans 5:1-5

Avoid the psychoactive substances , they are directly linked to sorcery .

Pharmakeia in Greek means drugs and sorcery .

Sincerely ,

wm

If you're talking about the first part of his last post, he was quoting me. Being new to the forum he probably doesn't know how to use the different tags.

My apologies for for calling you a "he". I didn't look at your info. As for the pointers, they are really just a couple of very simples principles to go by.

1)The first thing that you must remember is that, once again, we must line our will up with God's will. Usually we try to line God up with our will so that we can try to make what we're doing to be right. We have to first gain a truly intimate relationship with God and then we will begin to realize his will and purpose for us.

2)The second thing to do is realize the authority that we have through Jesus. When God made us, He said "Let them rule [have dominion NKJV] (Genesis 1:26-28). He gave humankind the authority over the earth but it was lost when Satan tempted Adam & Eve. Satan became ruler of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4; Luke 4:6). Jesus reclaimed our authority over the earth when he became a perfect and sinless sacrifice. Through our redemption we are allowed to go to the throne with confidence (Hebrew 4:16) when we pray in Jesus's name (John 14:12-14;John 16:23-24,26-27). Now that we know that we have the authority to pray in His name, we must learn how to use His name properly and respectfully. We do that by:
  • Having the right relationship with Him by abiding in Him (John 15:7)
  • Having faith in who He is
  • Having faith in His authority
Using His name without having His authority can be dangerous! (Acts 19:13-17)

3)The most important thing to do is to have Faith! You must believe that your prayers will be answered. When we pray God always hears us (John 11:41-42)! If He hears us, we know that he responds to us. His answer may be "yes", "no", or "not right now". We may not like His answer but it is always for the best.

One last point. When you pray, be honest. Don't worry about sounding stupid. Just say what is on your heart. The more you pray, the more you will know how to pray. I usually start by praising God, asking for forgiveness, and then asking him to release his blessings for my loved ones. The "Lord's Prayer" (Matthew 6:9-13) is the best example to use when praying. Try modeling it after that.

There is so much more that I want to say but long posts usually bore the reader so I'll end it here. I hope this has helped you. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me if you want. God Bless!

Your parents will always love you regardless of what you do or say so i wouldnt worry about finding the appropriate terms/words, just tell me what and how you feel in a nice way (with love that is.)

When it comes to getting close to God He promised you that if you'd seek him, you'd find Him. read the bible, read christian books that talk about growing up in Christ and getting closer to Him, but above all read God's word, study it night and Day and God will slowly start to reveal Himself to you.

Blessing.

Keep praying to God, reaading the word, and spend lots of time listening (that can be something very helpful), even if you don't go to church, that doesn't mean you can't grow in your relationship with God. But I really encourage you to find a church, even if all you do is go to the service on Sundays...but going to Bible Studies and that sort of thing can really help with your relationship with Christ and others' relationships. Keep praying over it, pray that you will find the courage to talk to your parents and that you will keep coming closer to God...even if you don't feel like it, don't trust your emotions, trust your heart, deep down, you know that you're sitting on the lap of your abba (daddy)...with love, peace, joy, hope in the resurrection, Lauren.
