Some of my dreams

Hi guys. Let me introduce myself. I am 27 years old, and have tragically lost my sister in 2007 (aged 25) and my father in December 2011 (aged 54) to cancer.

I have been an absolute mess due to this. I believe in god, but I must admit the biggest thing I fear is that I will never see them again (I believe in my heart I will but there is always this damn doubt that sometimes hits me when I am down.

Anyway, some of my dreams I would like to share.

- approximately four months after my sisters death where I dreamed nothing good, I had a string of interesting dreams. One was she showed me she could fly using this weird wooden instrument. She blowed into it gently and aimed it towards me and then I was flying around my room as well. I then told her I was scared and to leave me (don't know why I said it) and then suddenly I woke up)

- another interesting dream I had was she told me she had email in heaven and it was the same username and password she has when she was on earth.

- in regards to my dad, I have only had one dream. He was smiling and looking like his normal self before he got sick at a ranch style property with big green trees wearing a shirt I has never seen him wear before. I woke up straight away in a panic.

I don't know how real these dreams were, but they felt good in my heart and I thought I would share it with you guys.

These dreams seem to be a call to a freer life in the Spirit. The wood of the instrument symbolizes the natural, and seems to reflect a level you are stuck at. Your sister gently blows the spirit into it and you begin to fly. The green trees symbolize your father's healing, and he now has on his new garment of salvation. You also are being called to the healing of knowing the riches of who you are in Christ (see the prayers of Eph 1 and 3).

The interesting thing is the disparity between the fear and panic you felt and your summary statement that these dreams felt good in your heart. These things usually don’t go together.

I believe the message is that the Lord wants you to trust Him more fully and enjoy intimate communion with Him through the power of the Spirit, but you have fears concerning letting go. If that's the case you can wage war according to the dream (1Tim 1.18), and through the power of the Spirit overcome the fears and attain the freedom to which you are called.

Great, Thanasi. Stand firm in the victory Christ has already won for you (Eph 6; Mk 11; Heb 10; et al), and you will see your victory.

I had the thought last night that the name/password business is to convey that you will not lose your identity by surrendering to the Holy Spirit. You will retain who you are. In Revelations 2 (or 3) it is shown that we get a "new name", but it is referring to the glorification of ourselves. We do not lose who we are. We are transformed, but our personhood is God's permanent gift to us.
