• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It's interesting how we attempt to understand things in the universe that have no real affect on us but yet we can't fully understand the celestial body that our very existence is dependent on.

On the contrary, understanding things further out in the universe helps us to understand things closer to home. For example, if scientists observed a distant star (which was similar in composition to the Sun) behave in a way they've never seen the Sun act, they could conclude that it's possible that the Sun will act that way at some time in the future. Also, looking at other stars can help us understand how the Sun used to be and how it could be in the future.

True, studying things in the broader universe does tell us more about our own mechanics, but it's interesting to me how much we can understand things far out in the universe (i.e. black holes, other types of galaxies) but yet our Sun, which is right in front of us, still remains a mystery to us. One would still think that a race capable of understanding things hundreds of thousands of light-years away could understand its own star.

Well...we really don't understand black holes and distant galaxies. We just have theories which seem to fit the data but could be completely wrong. We simply have "good guesses"

The fact that we can even begin to theorize about black holes, quasars, and so on says quite a bit about our capabilities.

Heck we dont even fully understand the Earth were living on.

We are still trying to understand what / how the diffrent zones of our core act like, how they behave, and what's going on down there.

True, but until we get better guesses, we have to work with what we've got.
