The term "Sola Scriptural" is meant by relying wholly upon and only in Scripture as the basis for Church doctrines and practices. If one doesn't base one's beliefs on Scripture, what does one base it upon? The Talmud?

Make no mistake, practices like kneeling down while praying are fine as long as it's done in humility before God. God doesn't care about your physical position while you pray, it's about your state of mind. Are you driven to prostrate yourself before God, or are you kneeling down for the sake of doing it? Tradition for the interests of tradition. Do as you are told, that's tradition.

What is the purpose of church tradition and observance? Many do it unquestionably because that's what they think Christianity is. Unless one can explain the purpose of a particular Church tradition and its foundation in scripture, is it necessary to follow the custom? Is Christianity a religion based on tradition or is it based on the truth? Can truth be known without scripture as the measuring rod? For beliefs to be valid, it must not contradict the Word of God. There's nothing worst than unbiblical traditions. Scripture gives us a solid ground on which to base Church beliefs and doctrines.

As been written in 2 Timothy 3:16, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
Truth is living, it can be found outside of the Bible or church.

Absolutely! The earliest Christians knew the truth without scripture. They didn't need scripture because they had the Church, founded by Jesus and guided by the Holy Spirit, to tell them the truth.
Not likely.
They were all instructed by the emissaries of Y'SHUA to not accept any message from anyone
unless it was true according to YHWH'S WORD.
A lot of false prophets, false teachers, wolves and other ne'er-do-wells were always around propagating various falsehoods and deceptions,
so they had to wait until they could verify what is true with SCRIPTURE before accepting it,
according to SCRIPTURE.

If you are inspired by the Holy Spirit, truth and life live in you. If you are not, and if your worship traditions, where can truth be found?

Sola scriptura is a tradition of men. Although scripture is certainly God-breathed and useful, it isn't all we have of God's revelation.

Because they are inspired by the Holy Spirit and life and truth live in them. How do you know the Holy Spirit guides you when your traditions is in contradiction of Spirit?

Jesus liberated his followers from the inertia of traditional bondage.

In 2 Timothy 3:16, what does "scripture" mean...?

I found this/these...

Encyclopedias - International Standard Bible Encyclopedia - Scripture
SCRIPTURE

skrip'-tur (he graphe, plural hai graphai):

The word means "writing." In the Old Testament it occurs in the King James Version only once, "the scripture of truth," in Daniel 10:21, where it is more correctly rendered in the Revised Version (British and American), "the writing of truth." The reference is not to Holy Scripture, but to the book in which are inscribed God's purposes. In the New Testament, "scripture" and "scriptures" stand regularly for the Old Testament sacred books regarded as "inspired" (2 Timothy 3:16), "the oracles of God" (Romans 3:2). Compare on this usage Matthew 21:42; 22:29; Mark 12:10; Luke 4:21; 24:27,32,45; John 5:39; 10:35; Acts 8:32; 17:2,11; Romans 15:4; 16:26, etc.; in Romans 1:2, "holy scriptures." See BIBLE. The expression "holy scriptures" in 2 Timothy 3:15 the King James Version represents different words (hiera grammata) and is properly rendered in the Revised Version (British and American) "sacred writings." In 2 Peter 3:16, the term "scriptures" is extended to the Eppistle of Paul. In James 4:5, the words occur: "Think ye that the scripture speaketh in vain? Doth the spirit which he made to dwell in us long unto envying?" The passage is probably rather a summary of Scripture teaching than intended as a direct quotation. Others (e.g. Westcott) think the word is used in a wide sense of a Christian hymn.

James Orr

"Inspired writings of truth" or whatever is an "Inspired writing (by God) of truth."

Can that happen today, or in times past that isn't part of the Bible, or not...?

2 Timothy 3:16, says "all scripture" which means "writing"... Expounded to mean "Divinely or God inspired writing(s) of truth(s)...

God Bless!

In religion "scripture" is whatever the religious authorities consider scripture to be. Pauls letters were later converted to scripture. Pauls words were then made equal to Jesus'. Some Christians once read other books that they coincide red inspired truth like Enoch or Jashar. The church councils (who saw themselves as inerrant) un-inspired those books and in some cases banshee books.

Not all Scripture is in the bible.

We have 'Sacred Tradition' entwined with 'Sacred Scripture'. Simples
Without some kind of Sacred Tradition, the Protestants have no sure way of identifying those texts as inspired.

Admittedly, it is a kind of strange experience for me as a Catholic to be accused of "following the traditions of men" (whatever that means)... by a self-described Calvinist who uses a Bible that Martin Luther abbreviated.

But that's none of my business. *sips tea*

I did not respond to the poll because it is a forced choice, and there was no option for "both." I would be interested in a further explanation from OP as to what Christian traditions he finds objectionable and/or thinks is not supported by scripture?

Where is it???
FWIW, he said he's been appointed or authorized or delegated or whatever
for some school
that
apparently (from his recent post here; and other ideas posted about earlier) has OR may have its own scripture.
Some of what he posts is true, from true SCRIPTURE,
but some of what he posted in the past, and one of his friends posted, is contrary to SCRIPTURE,
but
it is in line with their school.
I could not draw out more information about this from them, so I don't have any more info other than what they have posted on the open forums themselves in the last month or however long.

I did not follow , instead ignored their threads and posts unless one came up coincidentally of interest, so I don't have any copies nor records of their claims.

This one though in this thread about some other scripture that's not SCRIPTURE, 'takes the cake', and is too serious to leave alone.

Would you say anything that is "Inspired writing (by God) of truth." is Holy Scripture...? (i'm thinking about the new scrolls, or perhaps the book of life, or scrolls like books from the Bible that are written on "in front and on the back(side)" also...)

But, who decides...? How/who can know...? Many published truths that were accepted as such in the past, turn out to not be so true in the future, in many, many cases... If it really "truth" then it must be from God, don't you think...? It must be "inspired of and by God" if it is really, truly "truth" that can stand the test of time, don't you think...?

I've had in some of my own writings and trying to work things out to arrive at truths, been wrong, when I looked back, but didn't think were wrong at the time, until I found from that, new things from that though, that I think are true (some things, others are still theories)...

Anyhow, I have figured a few things out that I think are true, but may discover after newer revelations, that they may not be entirely "true", but still have some truth in them however, that got modified by newer ideas and thoughts and fresher revelations from scripture and from the Spirit of God... I feel a bit like Thomas Edison who said he found "a thousand ways how not to make a lighbulb, but only one that worked", or in this case was really true or right...

I believe there is one unifying, universal "truth", but getting there...? I don't know that were even close to their yet, but I hope...

God Bless!

YHWH says no.

YHWH.

No. There is nothing like you seem to be looking for - no unifying universal 'truth' and no you are not getting there.

ONLY YHWH thru grace and faith in Y'SHUA MESSIAH can help you, if HE is willing. No one else can.

It looks from your posts content and questions for some time obvious you are getting every day further and further from YHWH and from TRUTH.
