How do you figure? It's the New Testament that is all about the Messiah and the church that these people were part of. Anyway, the NT books were in use, so that's that. But we're talking about there being more books in the bible, so the Old testament count is more relevant.
so that's that.
The problem arises when we confuse our own interpretation, our own emotions, our own intuition, with the Holy Spirit.Writings understood with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Yep, what becomes a problem is when personal interpretation is insisted as universal application.

We are never conscious of our own self deceit.
Sola Scriptura is overrated, the first christians didn't need it so neither do we.
How is it you don't understand Jesus was speaking of all being accomplished based on the Law, when the Law is the subject? The passage is Matthew 5:17, 18:He didn't say "Until all is accomplished in the Law." He said, "Until ALL is accomplished."
The Bereans thought that it was the way to judge what Paul was teaching. That is good enough for me.Sola Scriptura is overrated, the first christians didn't need it so neither do we.

The Bereans compared what Paul taught to the Writings, which would have been the OT, the prophets and the law. What did they think of Paul's teaching? Was it in tune with what Jesus preached?

The Bereans wouldn't have had copies of the Gospels. What they were verifying was that Jesus was the prophesied Messiah, that the Gospel message of the Redeemer was true, that He was the One Seed spoken of to Abraham, that of the Gentiles being brought into the fold, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the gifts, etc. What about the preaching of Jesus?

The Apostles would quote OT scriptures as proof of what they were teaching, such as Peter saying on Pentecost that the giving of the Holy Spirit had been prophesied by Joel.
They taught that salvation was through faith, which is also in the OT, just as love thy God and thy neighbor. Abraham being declared righteous by grace through faith.
Peter and James both verified Paul's authority.Without knowing the words of Jesus, relying on Paul's version could be a diversion unfortunately.
It appears that they did. What did they think of Paul's teaching? Was it in tune with what Jesus preached?
