Yes. In the first year or two of CF, socks were not allowed. The site had it fixed that you could only register with paid email address....earthlink, aol...ect. Hotmail and yahoo were not allowed.

But the site got larger, everyone found out that the moderators were encouraged to have at least one sockpuppet (which caused a lot of problems) and Erwin dropped the 'no sockpuppet's rule' and allowed free email addy registration.

Now someone could have ten sockpuppets and there is not a dang thing we can do about it.

I can't believe I remembered all that.
