So what does God want?

This is kind of a continuation of another thread. I do bad things all the time, it's hard to control. Recently I realized that using a pirated copy of some software is technically stealing. I have really enjoyed using this software, and getting a legit copy is very expensive. But I guess what I am doing is stealing. No way around it.

So what does God want? Does he want me to uninstall this software out of fear of condemnation? Or does he want me to not do things out of fear, and just continue to use the software while he changes me on the inside to feel convicted to stop?

What does he want?

Asking this shows that your conscience knows it's wrong to use the program. What God wants is faith and repentance. That's not always easy (in fact almost never is). Whatever you do, ignoring your consicence and continuing in sin is never the right answer.

I believe you already know the answer to your own question. If you believe in the God of the scriptures then you believe He hates stealing. You have two choice. Do what you know God wants you to do, or don't. There's not really a third option.

I'll be honest I have downloaded music that I listen too and didn't pay for. Is it stealing? Yes? Of course it is. Am I justified to have it? In my mind I am because I don't feel it right to have to pay $15.00 for 2 "good" songs on a CD. And while I'd love to find something scriptural to fit my view I've never had any luck.

Bottom line is stealing is stealing and wrong is wrong. No one has to tell us this, we already know it is a fact and we know that God hates it. Question is will we change and be blessed or will we continue living outside the will of God?

I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an alternative low-cost (or even free) software that is comparable to what you have. If you don't mind me asking what it is I'm sure someone here can help you find something that fits the bill.

He " wants " you to choose , of your own free will , to do what you understand to be right , with joyful expectations , trusting that doing what is right brings a brighter / better future for us all - though it isn't always instantaneously self-evident that this is indeed the case - hence the need for faith + patience .

Peace with God through Christ .

In short I believe He wants obedience. Obedience to His word and, in this particular case, that word is 'do not steal'.

Additionally, I believe he wants to bless us and that may include owning a legitimate copy of this software. Someone above asked for information about the software - maybe someone here has an unused copy and will send it to you?
