Yep, I know when we lived in Montana (courtesy of the government) back in 1968, the average temperature was 50 degrees below zero Farenhiet. (The next summer, people were walking around with "I survived the winter of '68 tee-shirts") Remember my husband having to wear special boots and only being allowed to be outside a certain amount of time--to prevent frostbite.
Alaska has those real cold temperatures and I'm sure that those of you in some of the areas of Canada also experience those uber-cold temps.

I much prefer the heat. I'd love to see Alaska but it's such a challenge to survive the elements in either time of year due to either the freezing cold in winter, or the mosquitoes that can drain you dry in summer.![]()

Crystal - my friend who lives on top of the mountain had frozen pipes last night [still not sure if it is unfrozen today]. She lives in a trailer. They always have problems without pipes being in some basement or insulated area.
Before we had the house put in - we lived in a trailer - happened every single time it got so cold.Yes, I live in a house, but it has no basement and the pipes tend to freeze if it's colder than 10 degrees. It's a major hassle.
