At my work, we keep getting old newsletters for someone that used to work there (long ago). Maybe they donated something, I dunno. The newsletter/envelope says something about helping Israel and the constant hardships and tragedies (the words used always sound worse than a PETA and Help the Children leaflet, combined).

Sounds weird, but everything I've heard since childhood on TV (parents didn't discuss it) is "Israel needs our help!", "We must support Israel!", etc.

I guess my brain young brain just took it at face value and never really thought about any history or logistics of them needing anything.

It dawned on me, when we received one... I don't really know that much about Israel (and the US). Couldn't even have an opinion about Israel.

Especially pro vs con, about the US position.

Normally I'd look things up, but I feel like it'd take a long while and starting so behind puts me at a severe handicap (given probable biases I would end up reading). Usually I could get a loose idea, like if I didn't know anything about evolution there's plenty of discussions about it, but I've not seen any CF threads

Anybody care to... elaborate...discuss...inform me about it?

EDIT: I am serious.

Maybe AV1611VET or dad or someone really...opinionated...usually with a lot of information, could respond.

Hopefully, from a neutral position.
Israel can take care of herself, but for the record we need to help Israel for our own good -- not theirs.

That is because the Abrahamic Covenant is still in effect today.

Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
Genesis 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

On the other hand, the biblical history shows us Israel can be a sinful nation.

So, the gist of it is it's a Bible thing?

Israel doesn't need our help, they just want our money. They are militarily stronger than any country around them and they are a nuclear power so they can easily stand on their own two feet.
So, why have I always heard we need to help/support them?

Israel is a double edged sword when talking about it. They have some bad issues, but at the same time from a christian perspective we still tend to support the country. However it really doesn't need our help, the bible says nothing will totally destroy it. They are surrounded by muslims countries and still can't destroy the country. Just as the bible said would happen. Well until the end when its almost destroyed.

Bible aside the biggest problem is people like the palestinians often paint Israel as being a violent country. They claim israel kills kids and what not. But its not the truth. The pals will stand in groups of families and launch mortars into Tel Aviv for example killing people. And the end up making Isralie forces choose between letting more and more die or firing back and sometimes having to kill the group around the pal soldiers. In other words the pals are good at using "meat shields" to protect themselves so they can blame Israel if it fires back. They even will shoot school kids going down the street using snipers and hopes of watching isralie people running out to get the kids, then they shoot them too.

I will go back to the fact that Israel does indeed have Gods protection. They made their own advanced tech that blows my mind. They for example created the gun that shoots around corners. The Cornershot (see the video here):

They also have the Iron Dome which does amazing at taking out things that get fired at them. They have also created "Dragon Skin" which is an armor even better than kevlar. So like I said they already got God to some degree, helping them out. None the less I still support Israel, even if it does bad things sometimes. In the end God will return and help them.

From, what, 70 or so to 1948, Israel as a country did not exist. It was destroyed by the Romans and the Jewish people were scattered among everybody else. The only nation that existed was the nation of Jewish people. So, yeah, the country certainly can be destroyed and possibly could be again at some point.

It's all very controversial....
But i think they're rather an abomination to God, with their mystery religion, the star of Moloch in the flag, and the denial of their King, who they had killed.
In fact, it seems Jerusalem (the harlot) already rides the beast (the world powers).
But at the same time they're special, also to God.
But i.m.o. they don't need more help than they can already arrange.

Thanks.

I've heard that both sides have killed others on the opposing side.

Has Israel always been on the defense?
Did Palestine start killing first?
Where did Israel get the resources to make their own advanced tech? Themselves?
Is there an "owner" to the land being fought (over)?
Who physically had the land 1st, or were both sides always there?

From what i understand, the Rothschilds bought the land and started the state of Israel, occupying the territory.
Obviously other people were not too happy with that.

Do you know who they bought it from?
Who was already there, if anyone?

I think it was a deal with the British and French somehow but i don't know for sure. I would have to look it up.
Who was already there, if anyone?
Mainly Jews and Muslims.
