There are families where a get together is like a verbal combat arena and everyone is contenting for attention.

Others can be so silent that you could hear a pin drop. There can be a genetic component to the extrovert / introvert characteristic. If you happen to be more introvert and encounter more extroverts, you may find yourself pushed aside frequently.

There can be environments where being ignored is a blessing. I assume you know the difference between maliciousness in being pushed aside and carelessness. Since you consider the possibility of being boring, that the 'being ignored " you experience is not malicious.

Sometimes one can regain attention by saying "Should I continue". However, there can be peace in just letting things go. About 50 years ago I remember my grandfather who had been pretty pushy his whole life beginning to be ignored at family gatherings. Now that I am in my 70s, I can see his perspective.

Being ignored may be reflective of being boring (not a bad thing) and it may also be reflective of a quiet and gentle spirit.
