I use first person for using my bow, and switch between first and third depending on the combat situation. If I am surrounded by enemies, I use third person so I can see where everyone is and block incoming attacks. I also fight dragons in third person for the most part. When fighting a single enemy, I can use either, but sometimes I find that first person is more effective for blocking.
I'll have to try this.

"I'm not a man. I'm a weapon in human form."

I hate waking up too early and being unable to go back to sleep, but deciding to use that time to go wreck shop on a bandit's den was a nice way to spend it.

"Hail companion"

I'm keeping my dragon scales to beef up my armour.
I did that with my last character. Then my save files got corrupted and I had to start over. What a waste.

Now I'm playing a Heavy Armor character and I'm saving up my dragon bone.
Oh, I also got the Blades Armor for the first time! It's so purty.

I'm making my way in the world as an alchemist. I've been earning enough to eat and rent a room each nght, but not much more. This character is doing the "non-adventure" thing.
If you use this (Alchemy Immersion.), you will make a ton of coin with alchemy. Note that if you float your mouse over the individual ingredients you can see all four properties. Very handy!

I got the game...months ago, can't remember when, and I am taking a long hiatus. Mostly because I'm stuck. But I loved what I played, even though some parts freaked me out.
What are you stuck on? Skyrim does have some bugs, but most can be worked around.

This (Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls Wiki) has gotten me unstuck so many times I can't even count! Just Google where you are stuck (for example, Google the name of the quest or the location) and click the result for the wiki. Also the wiki is a great resource for all sorts of things...like finding that wonderful alchemy app I linked to above.

I did find some, but I smoked up all of it.
^_^

I started yet another new character last night...and I'm not even done with my dual-wield character yet.
I was in the mood for a mage that also sneaks and performs hits. So say hello to my new Dark Elf mage assassin!

If you want profit, I'll go ahead and give you the recipe for the most valuable potion:
Giant's Toe, Purple Mountain Flower, and Wheat. High resale value (not good to use however) and will boost your Alchemy skill real fast.
Yes, I was looking at your app, that's pretty cool.

Is it odd that I've played this game for (far to!) many hours, but haven't even been to High Hrothgar yet? I've had three characters, a male Nord, a female Nord and a female Breton, and none of them have even delved into the main quest line!

I think I recall reading that it's short and somewhat underwhelming, so maybe I'm not missing much. Spoiler free enlightenment anyone?

The side questlines are generally more fun, but there are some good moments, and it's worth doing at least once.

Good tip! Thanks, I've been brewing this up everytime I get a giant's toe.

Awesome!
The one complaint I have about giant toes is you only get one. When you kill a giant, you should get all TEN toes, right???
^_^

I've been working on my Dark Elf mage assassin. And oh boy is he fun! I've been working on his sneak skill and he's dangerous! I've got Jenassa (the chick that hangs out in the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun) as a companion and she's quite effective at dual-wielding. Right now I have her using an Elven sword and dagger at the same time. She's powerful! And I married her!

Last time I got married it was to a boring shopkeeper. When you have a companion you are married to, you can take a nap pretty much anywhere and get the Lover's Comfort effect for eight hours which gives you 15% skill increase. A nice bonus!!

I try to not mess with giants. They kill fast. My assistant killed a couple for me while I hid behind a rock. You are right, they are missing a lot of toes.
(spoiler)
You won't believe what I did though. The Dark Brotherhood kept sending assassins out because somebody wanted me real dead. My pal killed them and we read the notes. This happened three times! I heard about this kid who was trying to contact them, so I figgured that I would go talk to him and see what he knows about this "dark brotherhood". Pretty daring of me right? Anyway, this kid thinks I'm one of the assassins. So I play along. I want to talk to these assassins, maybe I can bribe them out of killing me or something. So I went back to Riften and stuck the mean old lady in the back and ran out of there as fast as I could go. (Forgive me father for I have sinned). Everything's cool for a few days, until this dude comes up with a note - "We know what you did", oh poop. Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep. I run till I'm exhausted, and sleep in an inn somewhere far away. When I wake up, they kidnapped me! This mean lady in assassin armor wants me to do more killing. This is not where I saw my life going. I pulled my old sword and start swinging it around and I actually survive! The mean lady didn't survive. Where is my helper anyway? I got the assassins stuff and freed the three victims. Then word gets out and the police want me for questioning, turns out that they liked what I did and they want more. This is starting to freak me out, but I have to do something right? I don't want the assassins to find me asleep again and I wake up dead. If I don't do the thing for the cops, they'll probably behead me like that other guy. Talk about a rock and a hard place. So I brewed up a bunch of invisibilty potions and poisons, plus a ton of health potions. Maybe I can survive this. I also got a bow and learned how to shoot it. I practiced my "quiet walk". I got a map from the cops and the "secret password" and I went into the lair all invisible and shot the assassins with poison tipped arrows. I can't believe I survived. I shouldn't be bothered by assassins now.

I just have one other problem. I kind of got into a disagreement with some Altmeri Elves. Now they want me dead. Sheesh, I can't catch a break.

"How are you, keeping well I hope?"

I discovered a glitch. I can wear my assassin cowl and I can wear my dragon helmet at the same time so I get 35% increase on my bow damage plus the bonus of my helmet.

Decided to take the plunge and become a werewolf for the Companions but at least I can decide if I change or not after the first time and take out the sliver hand.

Nice!!

First time I wiped out the Assassin's Guild it was quite a scrap.

Altmeri are good for one thing:
Giving me free Elven armor!

I tried the werewolf thing for a while. I found it was pretty pointless.

I just started doing it. Haven't gotten to mess around with it much.

I think it's mostly for the cool factor, except that in the new expansion you get a perk tree specifically for werewolves. It's not that expansive, but still cool nonetheless.

That's good to hear. When you're a werewolf, you just run around with no ability to level at all or pick anything up.

"Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"
(Just kidding!)
"State your business!"
I'm playing Oblivion again makes me realise just how clunky the menu system was and how weird the leveling up was. Plus the fact you have to repair your armour and weapons constantly and you don't know how much damage they do. I'm trying to play as khajit using stealth but even that is a bit tricky. Though I have worked out where the guards keep everything they have confiscated from me when I'm caught so I just sneak in there and steal it back.
