  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The truth is this, if you are not close to God or God centered watch out! The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He will sift you and your spouse like wheat against each other.

Question? If you were accused of being a Christian where you work, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Or would you be found "innocent of all charges"? If your answer is not 100% yes...watch out!

I'm not so sure that he's a young person who doesn't know about marriage. According to the info included on his blog he is married, has children, and teaches in church.

He could be all that and still be 25 years old. Just sayin'.

OK, his bio says he graduated high school in 1994, so he's probably about 38. Maybe he counsels mostly really young couples lol. I dunno, I just did not get the vibe that he has experience with mature Christian couples. I mean, there's nothing in that article about children or finances, but there's a warning about social media. That's not something that would come up constantly in couples over 35 or 45 years old.

I don't know about the couples you know who are 35+ Inka but almost everyone that I know uses social media, and that includes some real oldies. The internet can be dangerous for anyone, at any age, if they enter into it without due consideration, imo.

I agree that most people use social media, but the ones who are glued to it 24/7 are typically (in my experience) the youngins.

I didn't take it as 24/7.....just that when the couple is together the social media can become an interference. The way it was written in the blog---it even seemed to infer it was during TV time (of which I'm guilty). He's describing just what happens here a lot of nights (TBH). When my husband is watching things I am not interested in, going on FB and here keeps me quiet. It's a much better resolution for us (rather than me trying to sit here in silence---that's just not going to happen). Even though I'm not interested in the show, though, I usually half pay attention to it---just to be 'plugged in' to what he's doing (does that count?). IOW......I'm not totally 'in my own world'.

AKmom and I mentioned earlier that isn't something new. People have always had their distractions.

What does "close to God" and "God centered" actually mean?
When you love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind....we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. If you are not in love with our Father, then you have just identified everything that is wrong with your life.

41 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! 42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42 NLT

Have you discovered it?
