  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's so much cheaper and easier to go to one of the two bars in town on what I fondly call "dead and/or alcoholic unknown country singer" weekend. :p I'm very much not a bar scene person, but I did that last year. It was rather interesting...somewhat for the good, some for the neutral, but I'm someone who wants to see people again. I know I'll have to go out of curiosity, even though I was a hopeless crazy nerd.

I definitely understand the different viewpoints. From what I remember from before 7th grade (I moved schools in 7th grade), I don't think I'd ever want to reunite with them again. There's one person I should try to find once more, but aside from that, nah.

To be fair, the main reason I was at the bars was that my mother had died a week before and I was pulling the time-honored but stupid trick of trying to drink away the grief for a night. I did get the number of one of my good friends from back then, though, and I should give her a ring now.
