Never dated before, yea, almost 18 and I've never ever been on a date...but that might change before too long!

I've had two girlfriends. The first one cheated on me...the second one, well she's a longer story. 2009 wasn't really my best year.

Hmmm. Well, I've really only dated one girl, it lasted a year and a half. She cheated on me sexually with 5 different people including her own cousin. I tried to be a good Christian boyfriend and forgave her every time. The irony is that she dumped me.
She dated some chick, then her brother, then the both of them at the same time. She is now engaged to a full-blown drug addict who is only 18 and has already been in jail twice...

I picked a real winner...that kinda turned me off from dating for a good while.

Rating people is demeaning. Any girls that rate you by how you look might be only mostly looking at the outward appearance. You can't trust a person's judgment on what they think an attractive guy is. Everyone was made with a 10 in some area, and we are all 10s in different ways; it really doesn't matter if those ways are easily seen or not.

I'm not sure it is demeaning though but of course they are rating only the outside, I let very few people see the inside. Maybe only 4 in my entire life besides my mother and father. And even they don't see everything, no one does. lol I let this one girl get to know me, not everything but she has seen a good bit, and thankfully she appreciates me. She says I'm intelligent, funny, sweet and she says I am important to her. But she has a boyfriend sadly.

You got me! Indeed, I'd say I am an optimist.
But it's really nice to have close friends! It's better than having a whole lot of friends that don't know anything about you.

It is, but I find optimism quite illogical. Things almost never go as hoped.

It's not like, "Oh, I hope I get the job I want" or "I hope I don't get sick."
But I have every reason to be joyous!!!! All because of the forgiveness of my Savior!
I know that hoping for earthly things isn't always logical, but I look towards the everlasting life, and put all my faith and hope in my God!...and I know that He will never let me down.

I know life isn't always happy-go-lucky all the time, and there are many times of sorrow, grief, and seriousness. I'm just saying that logic and cheerfulness have a great and purposeful existence together.

I like Spock. Look at any genius or mastermind in history. Not many seem too happy. Plus I am an INTJ, we tend to not be very cheerful either and we are called masterminds.

To each his own. If everybody functioned the same way life would be boring.

Usually when I see masterminds or scientists figure something out, they'll get excited and shout something like, "EUREKA!"

Yes, we are not robots. I never said we never were cheerful. And the whole Eureka thing...we don't really say that. And of course we can love what we do. But that different from cheerfulness.

Obviously, since robots don't have complex thoughts!
And just wondering, who did you say you were speaking for? All geniuses, or everyone who is an INTJ?

I know scientists only say eureka in movies, but I know a few scholars with Ph.D.'s that do actually say, "Eureka!"

You've got a valid point, and I'm not saying you're wrong, but what about the studies that show that cheerfulness is valuable?

It CAN be valuable. Or it can be blinding. I am not speaking for everyone, I am simply stating what I have observed in myself and other INTJs and scientists. If they say Eureka, they probably say it humorously.

OR it could be used because one understands a much higher power loves them and how truly blessed we are, and that no matter what junk life puts us through, nothing will change that. Anything can be understood in different ways with different people, personalities, intentions, and so forth. As said, we are not robots, we do not function under any specific protocol, we say, do, and feel things for the right or wrong reasons. While cheerfulness may be blinding, it may be a mass variety of things. Cheerfulness also does not completely hinge on intelligence.

You know, there can be a halfway point. Intelligent, but not genius; introverted, but not a hermit; not cheerful, but happy enough for the most part. Just a thought.
