  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm not ready either, sometimes I get tempted to ask a girl out but then I remember that i'm not ready.

I find that playing a sport helps distract me.

Yea, or just doing fun things with friends...the opposite gender can be a friend without being a bf/gf. :)

Reasons why I'm single:
-I can't talk to girls for some odd reason...
-I'm in college and its hard to juggle a social life with the books
-I find that I'm not boyfriend material so I rather not break some girl's heart because well I don't act like a boyfriend

That's mature, are you sure your 17? and not a 25 year old in disguise? :D

You should speak to my friend Gerwin, he is sixteen/seventeen and he has had six girlfriends or something. He must have drank a magic potion or something, girls just simply love him.

Lucky guy xD

Hehe, Some boys are lucky :p

Yeah, i am mature for my age. I've heard that allot, i think i was born in the wrong decade :/

I've never been in a relationship and I know I'm not quite ready for one. It's all in good time. :)

I had lots of relationships, and I've hurt some and broke up with 'em for no reason , and had lots of sexual contact without a relationship. and done some other bad things,
But for 6 month ago, on the day i accepted Jesus and he have change me from my toes to the head. And he made me realize that I am not ready to be with a girl...

Well i've never had a girlfriend, I wonder how many people can say that at my age. Here in holland, that is almost, if not entirely unheard of.

I can't even imagine how I would ask a girl out, or what we would do if she even said yes.

Hm.. yeah, the asking out part is the hard one to.
If you find a girl, i might have some tips
by "asking her out" on a "non date" is pretty easy, if you have some common friends or so can you talk to your friends hey lets go out for Pizza on Friday at 7 or anything like that, when you are a group of friends, why not add one more? Then you can ask her "Me and some friends are going out for a pizza night? wanna join?" or high light the matter for your friends like "How about X could join us?"

Then you can get to know each other, later on you might find the courage to ask her out by your self. and only you and her.

That would be hard asking someone out...but hey, you're feeling daring right? :p

But seriously, not me or any of my friends, that I know of, would turn down a guy brave enough to tell them how they feel. Even if he was a nerd. (I'm not saying you are)
Heh, I'm glad that I'm a girl.=P

Hmm, interesting advice. Unfortunatly, I have no "friends" or a group that I hang out with. However I will put this advice into effect if I ever become a part of a "group" of peers.

The strange thing about me, is that I will virtually do anything in a dare. I am afraid of no man, but as soon as I want to ask out a girl my guts turn to jelly and I become a coward.

But your advice is reassuring and it encourages me. Thank you for the advice guys :D

Don't you have friends in your youth group in church? in school? or anywhere else you are hanging out with?

No not really, being English i'm usually the outcast

Oh, i thought that you where a pure Netherlander. Okey, but it is boring that it have to be that way. :( if you would live in Sweden then you wouldn't be the outcast. that's for sure!

Well thank you for the support, if I ever go to Sweden i'll keep that in mind.

The thing is, that in Holland if you can't speak the language correctly then you'll always be a fifth wheel. You might be in a group, but you'll never be apart of the group. Serving as an example, I play rugby, but sometimes I mis-understand the coach due to the language barrier, the people around me do their best to help me, rather like one would help a child. You help him, but that doesn't make him your equal. This becomes evident in the interactions, you can tell that they try not to speak to me, as it is too much work.

Playing rugby is really my only activity where I feel semi-apart of a group. But this illusion lasts only as long as the pratice.

I'm also just nervious that if I liked a girl here, that she wouldn't give me the time of day because my dutch is weak.

Sometimes I miss England, but i've been here for nine years so this is really all I know.
