  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am emotionally incapable of hanging up my pants. I currently have 1 pair black cords, 1 pair blue cords, 1 pair khaki cords, 1 pair olive cords, 1 pair of lounge pants and a pair of sweats laid over the back of the chair in my bedroom. The chair is 5 feet from the walk-in closet and I just can't migrate those pants...

Perhaps you should make the economic conditions on the back of your chair so poor that the pants will flee across the border to the closet, in order to have a better life for them and their children. j/k. :D A little political humor there. :sorry:

leaving the bathroom door open....

coming home from a long day at work and often choosing sleep over supper

not doing dishes right away (not to the point of mold growth though...)

my 3 cats eat better than i do

oddly enough...when i burp at home alone i say 'excuse me' even though no one is in the room other than maybe one of the aforementioned 3 cats....

Excuse me? Well, at least SOMEONE here has some manners.

This thread is sooo funny. I think it comes down to living alone. There is no one to impress. When I need to straighten the place up (for a guest or to show to a potential new tenant) it looks OK. When I was a kid, I used to be a neat freak. What on earth ever happened is beyond human comprehension.

I just do whatever I feel like doing at the moment because I can and dont have to answer to anyone but God. If I dont want to put something away right away, I dont, if I want to eat out, I do, if I dont want to eat, I dont, I eat off of paper plates and bowls, use plastic utensils, microwave everything or have a bowl of cereal.
I sleep under one blanket so its easy to make my bed if I decide to. I wash my clothes about once a month, I have that many clean clothes, mostly underwear.
I play on my computer when I want or watch tv when I want and what I want to watch. I love it.

Well I'm sure your cats appreciate your politeness. In fact, they do the same - it's probably that you have just never listened. Next time you hear your cat burp, you will hear it followed by a quiet and very embarrassed (because it is almost socially unacceptable in the cat world to burp) Miiiiiiiiiaow. Make sure the emphasis is on the "iiiii" otherwise the meaning is completely different. All that because of you setting the example to them.

After a trip, my suitcase often stays in the living room and takes a month to unpack.
And that's it??? A month??? Pppphhhh.... I have a case from a trip last May which still needs to be fully unpacked! :sorry:

Sometimes when I get packages I open them but do not put away the contents right away.
Or the few ocassions I go on a shopping spree the bags stay only partially unpacked for a bit.

WOW... I'm having real trouble believing that... Your place must be a real mess!!! Thanks for warning us - just in case you ever invite us all over for a forum party! I don't think I'll come! ;) :p

Thanks for clearing that up Gimpy... I had heard from other (multiple) sources that you only have two sets of clothes... including underwear   :sorry: :o :help:

For the record ...
Someone who shall remain nameless :p
Reminded me of this thread just yesterday.

Actually when I started this was when Randy and I were getting together.
So we knew we were sharing the "habits" that could scare others away.
BUT it did NOT!!!!!

You guys are unbelievable... Yes, we're single, but how can you guys live like you're describing? It sounds just like me ;) ... except I think I'm worse!

I work freelance computer stuff and mostly from home / over the internet so erm I tend to wear the same things for a couple of days! (cuts down on the washing, y'know ;) )

I can get away with shaving until I need to go out too. You can call me Grizzly Gregged at times!

Sleep patterns are all over the place.

Like going out whenever / wherever. Grocery shopping is normally at about 2 a.m.

My work desk tends to be messy.

The microwave is made full use of and I can eat whatever!

BUT

Just before you all go "Ewwwwww.... what a gross guy," I do tend to keep the inside of my car clean and have a dishwasher. I think it's just plain disgusting to have a messy car and let the plates pile up ;) How could you live like that? :p :D

I realise that if any of this information becomes public to any future possible wife that I may have just blown that chance! For this reason, this message will self destruct in 5 seconds...

Well guys, just to let you know, your habits would be the same if married or single.

I was married for 29 years and now find myself single. Everything you all described happens just the same if married.

No, no, no... <hands over ears> I can't hear you la la la la la...

Will I really be this bad? And will the other posters here really carry on their disgusting habits?! ;)

If/when the time comes, I will try to be better! I'd like to think I'll keep proper hours of sleeping etc and not using the microwave so much and washing at least twice a year ;)

But I do believe you - and you are of course speaking from experience! I can see how some things would slip as time went on... :( But not the "ewwwwy" stuff... :p

Thank you for making my day with this thread. It was an absolute pleasure to read it and I had a lot of fun!

Though I am single, and the fact that I have to take care of my three boys, I find that I cannot do whatever I would like to do.

So, though I could go to bed when I wanted, I don't as I know I'd have a hard getting up the next day to go to work. I put the dishes in the diswasher every two or three days. I wash laundry when my kids can't find anything else to wear. If I cook what I like, there is always one of my boys that complain he doesn't like it. So we each cook what we want (I taught them the basics of cooking). My middle kid is getting pretty good at cooking fancy meals. From the time I was married, I am still used to sleep on one side of the bed. However, the other side of the bed is constantly covered with a couple of books, my bible and a dictionary that I currently use. Once the books are read they are replaced by new books. This is so practical especially on Saturday morning when I feel like staying in bed or in the middle of the night if I happen to have a hard time falling back asleep.

For the rest, I try to keep the house in order otherwise it would drive me nuts.

So, I guess, I'm not doing too bad! ;)

i love doing what i want when i want. I can go to the cafes for a late brunch on saturday. I can leave things on the bench. I can watch what i want on the telly or chat on line. I go to bed at really bad times. I have to keep some sense of order though as I have a 10year old son and have to get up early weekdays to get him off to school. I think that for the right person I would be glad to trade some of my alone time not all of it for some quality together time.

Interesting read

I almost always wash my dishes right after the meal, they wash quick when nothing has dried on them.

I usually shower ever other day anyways.

I sleep on one side of the bed for a couple of weeks then shift to the other side for two weeks then wash the sheets.

I'm in bed at a reasonable hour so I'll beready for work on time. But have lost my job as of the end of the month. So will see if that changes my sleep habits.

in general, I'd say my habits have stayed about the same as when I was married.

You mean you don't separate colors?

You're SUPPOSED to separate colors?

Really?

I have 2 colors, light and dark. All get washed in cold. And then only after the stack of clothes reaches my waist (or I run out of t-shirts). But I digress.

My father once actually took off the bathroom door in his place. As soon as he started dating again, it went right back up which, because he's mechanically challenged, took the better part of an afternoon. So I'd suggest to you all not to take the door down if you're mechanically inept.

I didn't see anyone say they're a pack rat. I throw no papers away until they stack up so high I trip on my way out of my bedroom, slide into the door and jab myself in the nose (yes, that happened. That smiley looks suspiciously like what happened too).

The papers remain on the floor though . . . do you s'pose that would have to change if I get married?

That's one plus of being single again ... not sure I feel it's an even trade. I do know other divorced people who have gotten to the point that they love this.

Whites, lights, darks, uniforms (all my uniforms are now in a very simliar green/tan mixture, so it's easiest to wash them all together, and maybe throw in some close colors with it like khaki pants. Everything gets cold water except whites.

I don't think I could ever do that - I shut the door even when I'm alone.

I always stack up papers, then do a marathon sort and dispose/file/deal every couple months. Used to drive my wife nuts.
