Years ago, 1936, a 'country-western' songwriter wrote a song called “Cool Water”. Possibly you have heard or seen these cowboy romanticized lyrics. It was an enduring hit. Apparently about a man and his mule, Dan, at a mirage in the hot desert.

All day I've faced the barren waste
Without the taste of water, cool water
Old Dan and I with throats burned dry
And souls that cry for water, cool, clear water

He's a devil not a man
