  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Sometimes it is the simple things in life that can give us such great blessing.
When I spent my time with the Franciscans, it was their simple way of life that taught me so much about the love and grace of God.
My room did not have the facilities you would expect in a hotel, but it gave me somewhere comfortable to sleep after the journey. Who needs all of the modern luxuries and comforts of a hotel when you are staying in a place of prayer where everyone believes that God will provide us with all the things we need. As Psalm 127:2 states: "he gives rest to His beloved sheep".
At mealtimes, before eating, we were always encouraged to first pray for those in the world who have no food and who are hungry. The food that was served was not the kind I would normally prepare at home, however part of the mealtime experience was to show gratitude towards God for what we have.
I have been on these retreats a number of times. When you stay in a place like that, the world always seems to look very different. The small things that we seldom noticed we begin to appreciate that little bit more. Life seems more colourful, more vibrant, more interesting and enriching. Instead of striving for something better, we learn to appreciate our life as being a gift from God.

I love the testimony of Brother Lawrence who practiced the Presence of God,as much among the 'pots and pans' of the Monastery kitchin,as well as in the cloisters and before the altar!

Vigilance in check by peace, peace held in check by holiness, holiness, by the Word of God, the Author of our faith.

Now why for heaven’s sake cannot that be held as a simple, preeminent joy and pleasure?

A conscience so 'clear', is in fact simple. It is the ridding of obstacles, beams and offenses in getting there is the complexity. No?
Yes! So true
