  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What an edifying post. Thank you. If I can briefly mangle a metaphor, there is a church up on the cliff side above the hotel in Santorini in which I am staying. I can see it from the balcony and I was desperate to climb up there. Yesterday my wife and I did so, and although we had been warned the church was only opened once a year and was actually quite dangerous to get to, the path was even more treacherous than we had anticipated! But we persevered and we made it to the church, and it was lovely and peaceful. This feels like a pleasing metaphor for what I am going through. I can see the church on the side of the cliff!

I will read all of the links you posted and keep you updated (probably on a different thread!) about what happens next. Thank you again.

The thing that struck me was the view of liturgy as a barrier. I can understand how one could feel this way - it feels a bit foreign sometimes and at others a bit rote. The joy is that it is not actually a barrier, but a gateway to heaven itself- it's a participation in heavenly worship. When you read Ezekiel or Revelation the liturgical images of heavenly worship are quite striking.

Ezekiel and Revelations are excellent examples on the matter of how Liturgy is truly a gateway into Heaven. And sad to see how many times it is treated as if it is foreign to how the Lord did things when it is actually interconnected with it..

Amazing metaphor and very timely, IMHO.
