  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The ignorance in this thread is typical.

Two months ago I was hospitalized with Necrotizing Fasciitis (flesh-eating bacteria) for two weeks. It is becoming more and more common because of our over use of anti-bacterial products and antibiotics.

Anyway; after I got out of the hospital I had home care for another three weeks while healing.

I have blue cross insurance so I wasn’t too worried. But now the bills are coming in that the insurance company “doesn’t cover”. I have already paid out over $10.000.00 out of my own pocket because of deductibles, co-pays, and what my insurance says they don’t cover.

I got the hospital bill last week for the two weeks I stayed in the hospital because they haven’t heard back from my insurance company. The bill is for just under $130.000.00.

This is ridiculous. I am afraid I am going to have to pay out most of my life savings because of this. I thought that is why I have insurance, to cover me in these kinds of unforeseen circumstances.

But it is clear to me now that profit is much more important then our own well being.

:crossrc:That makes me so sad, and frustrated, and angry. Our health care system is absolutely frightening. Talk about lacking "moral values"... Our health care is one of the least "moral" things I've ever seen.

I haven't seen any of Moore's propaganda films, and I don't plan on seeing any of them.

Anyway, what Moore failed to point out is that the hospitals that the common people in Cuba go to are run down and poorly equipped. Only the elite in Cuba are permitted to go to the better hospitals.

Socialized medicine is a failure. One in-depth look at Europe will prove that point.
I live in Canada, actually. We have socialized medicine as well. And while I feel Moore did have a rosier view maybe than the average Canadian, the health care system is pretty amazing.

The main issue I have is the fact that health is a life-or-death matter in many instances. To deny someone healthcare based on the fact they can't afford is against basic human rights.

There are issues with Cuban medical care. And yes, there are probably issues within France & the UK as well. However, when a developed country has FALLEN far below the standards of other developed countries, and below a country like Slovenia, something is seriously wrong.

Again, even if you dislike Moore or find him obnoxious or whatever the case may be, his film is still worth seeing.

There are plenty of people who disagree with right-wing propoganda, but watch The O'Reilly Factor. Its nice to be aware of what the other side is ranting/discussing.

Again...sure, the system stinks. But let's look at the two places in which the federal government is already involved in health care...the VA and Medicare...and you guys really think getting the government furthur involved is gonna help?! Pu-lease.

The government doesn’t need to bother itself with health care. Leave that up to the health care professionals. All the government need to do is act as an insurance company. When something needs to be paid for it is paid.

We know our government is great at writing checks.

Right now the insurance companies are only really there to make a profit. If we just moved what we pay for insurance to some kind of community pool where there is no desire for profit, just the well being of the people.

This way we can also focus on preventive medicine. Because I know I avoid going to the doctor unless absolutely necessary, I am sure I am not alone on this. This way we can work on fixing potential problems before they become a problem. Right now we don’t focus on fixing people, the drug companies don’t want that, they want people to rely on what ever they are making, not avoid potentially having to take whatever it is at all.

Also let’s say you are in-between jobs so you are uninsured and something happens. No insurance company will ever sign you on knowing they will be paying your bills before you were signed on.

So Wouldn’t the moral thing be to have health care equally available for everyone no matter at what point in their life they happen to need to rely on our health care system.
