  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Alright people... who all plans on going to see Shrek 2?
It opened last night, and I went to see the late show with my friend... and oh man it was AWESOME!! It was just as funny, if not funnier then the first one IMO anyways.
There was certain parts that I just about died cos I was laughing so hard. Anyways, I really reccomend if you loved the first one to go see this one. Then come back and post what you liked about it :D

I thought Puss the cat (Voice by Antonio Bandaras) was a GREAT Addition.... he kept me in stitches the whole time :D

I loved the first Shrek! It was hilariously funny for the hidden comments geared to us adults taking our children! Donkey was my favorite character and I loved the gingerbread man, too!

One of the things I liked the most about this movie was that it sent the message that it was OKAY not to be the 'beautiful shapely' princess type ... and that she was still loved for who and what she was as an ogre! I thought it was a positive and healthy take on appearances for little girls to see!

I am anticipating this one to be as good as the first!

Sundays are always 'family' day for me and the daughter so we always plan something to do together. I'll take her after Sunday morning mass ... I can't wait! :D

I lvoed when Puss started to cough up the hair ball... I nearly lost it... I had to catch my breath I was laughing so hard... or the kitty cat eyes he kept giving people... I thought Puss was a excellent addition to the movie.

Saw the movie Thursday...it was much better than I was expecting. I'm usually not a fan of sequels...I'm getting sick of most of them. So I went into the movie expecting it to not be all that great. And honestly, I wasn't that impressed by the first 25 minutes. But once Puss n Boots came into the picture...things took a turn for the better. All in all I'd say it was pretty comparable to the first. My fiance thought, and I agree, there seemed to be a lot less toilet humor and a lot more just good old fashioned fun.

I saw Shrek 2 on Thursday - I thought it was not quite as good as the first, but still very good. Puss 'N' Boots was hilarious - the big kitty eyes and also when they interrupted him cleaning himself. I also liked the way the story ended - I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet.

I really wish Jennifer Saunders would have played fairy godmother with an Edina (Absolutely Fabulous) spin. She would have been a little bit funnier that way, IMO. And I really did not like Prince Charming - but I guess I wasn't supposed to.

All in all, worth seeing!

Better than the first!

We went to a privite screening last night and I think we woke the whole town up laughing. The whole movie the whole way through is a crack up.

I found this funny as well:

Antonio Banderas was so moved while watching his eagerly-anticipated new movie Shrek 2 with Justin Timberlake, he ended up sobbing and holding hands with the pop hunk. The Spanish actor viewed the animated film at France's Cannes Film Festival last week as he sat in between Timberlake and the 'N Sync star's girlfriend Cameron Diaz, who also adds her vocals to the production. Banderas says, "I was kind of crying at the end of the thing. It was kinda funny because there's is a very romantic moment at the end of the movie. My character says, 'I wanna cry,' and I was crying. Cameron Diaz was (to the left) and Justin Timberlake was (to the right), and he said to me, 'I'm crying too!' So we held hands for a while. Cameron was just looking over there (thinking), 'These guys, what are they doing?'"

I saw it Friday night. I love being in the movie theater with a movie like that because with all the funny parts you hear all the people laughing and the cute parts everyone goes, "awww" and there were the cute little kids who would scream, "run shrek run!" I thought it was good except for that cross dresser bar tender! how are parents going to explain that to their kids?! but it was a really cute movie anyway.

I just came back from Shrek 2 with the youth group. I thought it was great...and I think it was better then the first. :D

And I agree that there was a lot of references to things adults would know, to keep them into the movie...without going too overboard. I also liked how there were the "mockups" of various things in today's society...like Starbucks, I saw an Old Navy type store, and other stuff.

One of the youth who came with us said he was trying to hard to not like the movie because he didn't really like the first Shrek. But he wound up really liking Shrek 2. :)

I'll definitely see it. Obviously, a lot of talent has gone into the movie. But the WSJ reported that Dreamworks paid Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz $10,000,000 each, up front, to do the voices. Does this bother anybody? I'm the sure the movie will make a mint, but these salaries just seem to be really pushing the limit.

Doesn't bother me any. They put a lot of work into making these films. Think of it as compensation for not being able to have a normal life. People like Jim Carey or Mike Myers can't just go out to a mall or for a walk like you or I can. They get mauled by people wanting to talk or get photos and autographs. Think of it, they can't just do the simple things without being bothered by people. This is one of the issues that drove a lot of people mad.
