Maybe there isn't anyone to fill their shoes...After 30 years I can see why they would be getting close to retirement... But why are they allowed to stay?

I agree with you, sorry if it sounded like I didn't.If someone may be giving out false doctrine to his flock... I would say they would be better with no one than someone who may be leading them astray...
I agree with you, sorry if it sounded like I didn't.
I've been to churches where they don't like their pastor, but they can't get anyone else, so that's all I was commenting on.
Sorry for interrupting....
Well Rev and PR I hope you are right but we'll just have to wait and see.
It seems you both have a handle on what is going on in the synod. Uh huh.
Actually over the past few years there have been a couple of close calls in breaking fellowship between the ELS and WELS. I believe they are still in talks over those issues.
One instance was WELS wanting to give women the authority to give communion to other women.
Another was ELS's recent controversy over a finalized doctrine concerning the office of the Keys and to whom it extends to publicly. And how the ELS president skipped over procedure and went straight for the defrocking of a major opponent to the doctrine.
Overall I am a bit confused over the ELS issue. I wasn't all in the best mind when it was happening and now that I try to review it, I get lostwhat I really need to do is get to a printer and just sit down with a hard copy and figure it all out! LOL
Do you not see how this is wrong?
As I know who the major opponent was (I won't mention his name) I believe that he was right and President Molstad was wrong. I also go to school with his (Major opponents) sons.
I hope you do that.
Most definitely.
Personally I believe Molstead was wrong too. Our pastor gave us pretty much the whole run down on our synod while it was happening. We are blessed with an awesome Pastor who actually takes the time to share events with his congregation so that we are informed and so that we can pray. And he is impartial when he gives it to us as well, so we don't get a slanted view of things.
I missed the last couple of congregational meetings tho so I don't know if there have been any updates or not. Let his family know that there are still people out here praying!
I probably will eventually. I have a few pressing matters at the moment.
As for the actual doctrine and response, that is what I have to read up on. I found the letter submitted to the synod on the internet. Or at least I believe it is unaltered. But to be honest, it is too deep for me to understand reading it online. I need a paper copy and even then I think I will be straining the poor excuse that I pretend is a brain.
The whole reason I brought it up tho is because of the incorrect thought that ELS and WELS are inseparable. We aren't. And these are just two things that have been recent that have almost caused a division between the synods. We are human and for that we constantly need the one to get the other to a table and straighten things out. What a blessing it truly is!
Sometimes, those can be the most destructive and the most fiercely held.

The idea behind women communing women was for women's prison ministry. Some female prisons don't allow any males at all - so those prisoners were lacking in communion if they wanted to take it (if they were WELS). Aside from that point I don't know much else, other than that WELS decided to not push the issue. Women cannot distribute communion to other women.
Just wanted to clarify that.
One of the reasons that the sons of the major opponent have for attending an LCMS seminary over an ELS seminary was that they felt more free to speak out about these issues at the LCMS seminary. The oldest son did do one year at the seminary in Mankato and left for Fort Wayne to finish his schooling. He is now a graduate of the sem and going for his doctorate in St. Louis.
The document you speak of is very complicated and deep. It might take years to really sort it all out.
So...has there been an answer to the OP's question really? Is this something we should vote on?
Ya know Rad, your hostility does nothing to help fix whatever problems, real or perceived, that LCMS is having.
In the WELS, we call guys like you nattering naybobs of negativity. Always quick to judge, but never quick to help. We also call guys like you gators, who often simply exist to cause trouble for their congregations. I'm SURE you don't want to be part of either of those groups, right?
So you need to ask yourself whether you want to be part of the problem or part of the solution. Constantly griping and arguing with those that are members of the synod doesn't really do much to help the situation.
*PW wanders off to take her own advice.
No way Hoesa. You've abused me too and if you dish it out you're going to get it back. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.Rad, I've taken enough abuse today and yesterday from people. I don't need it from people in my own forum.
