I guess I don't understand. I thought you said you were gay.
*sigh*

Being homosexual, bisexual, or heterosexual isn't just about sexual activity. It is about what gender(s) of adults that one is attracted to. Just like heterosexual people can be virginal or celibate while still being straight, homosexuals don't have to be having sex with someone of the same gender to be gay.

 Of course. :)

I guess I don't understand. I thought you said you were gay. And I don't believe I ever said you wre engaging in sin. What was said is we all have fallen short.

Hey, I gave you my 2 cents worth......
Someone else just answered your first question. On the question of "sin," you had a rather long paragraph on paying a penalty for sin in the post in which you were explaining why people like me should not be allowed to adopt. You appeared to be suggesting that someone like me should not be allowed to adopt because of my "sin." You made a big assumption that being gay is a sin. And if being gay is not a sin, what is your reason for saying gay people should not be allowed to adopt?

For me, being gay is not something I do. It's who I am. It's just how God made me. I am happy with the way God made me.

"How can I repent of a sin, when the sin is so big it's me?"

though, seriously, a friend of my mother has a daughter with mild cerebral palsy.

A few years ago, kids in her class were horrible to her, but stopped just shy of actual physical assault. Her mother went to a conference with the teacher and the other kids' parents. the teachers said that they couldn't do anything, because they never physically touch her. One other mother said, "She has to get used to it, because people are going to treat her like that for the rest of her life."

Somebody needs to explain to me how it's right to actively teach people that certain kids can be teased, then tell adults that they shouldn't have kids, because their own children are cruel and will tease them, so it's really for their own good to not have kids.

(edit: yes, I know that there is a difference between cerebral palsy and being the child of queers. But, if there are parents and teachers out there teaching their kids that disabled children are free game, than you can't convince me that there aren't similar parents teaching the same thing about the kids of gay parents.)

My daughter, who is 6, would never tease another child for being different. She knows that she is different, because of her skin color. I teach her compassion for others, never to put down another child. Parents need to talk to their kids about this, so no child is ever treated badly by other children just for being different.

From what I've seen, gay parents are usually pretty good about this.

Of course gays should be able to adopt. Gays are allowed to adopt in other countries and states, and their children are turning out fine. Also, straight people have been screwing up children for thousands of years. Like gay couples are going to do any worse. As for children teasing, well, kids will be teased for anything and everything. I was teased for wearing glasses, having bad hair, and bad teeth. I got through it.

The "children will think homosexuality is okay!" argument. I was raised by heterosexuals, and I think homosexuals are okay. (Well, I AM homosexual.) You don't have to be raised by gay parents to have an open mind or think a certain way. My cousin has gay-hating parents, but she believes being gay is okay.

And even if you're still against gay adoption, look at the other possible life. Orphanages. Foster parents. Having no real family or love.

However, and you knew this was coming, it is from an account in Genesis in the life of Abraham and his nephew Lot that I am convinced homosexuality is not the way to go. I had to turn from it myself. Lot moved to Sodom and Gomorrah, and there was a practice of homosexuality in that place. Ultimately, God destroyed that city.
" 'Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.”
Ezekiel 16: 49

Strange that God seems to think Sodom was destroyed for other reasons…maybe you should tell him why he really did it

Before you panic, or get angry, bear in mind God is not against people, but against sin. There's a little cliche, "God hates the sin, but loves the sinner".

I have found the cliché is brought out to allow the person doing the hating to pretend that they somehow really are not hating at all.

Should others hate your sin of prejudice?
