My guess is near death experience accounts will play a huge role in dividing us over the short term...
Jesus warned his disciples, that their persecutors would kill them out of relitions zeal -- the same way the Jewish leaders were able to whip up the crowd to say, "Crucify him!"
John 16
[1] These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
[2] They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
[3] And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
[4] But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
I don't expect a civil war in the church, which is already largely underground. The New Age religion, though, which seems to have already taken over in Europe and other places, has a tremendous hold on people who might THINK they are Christians. The morality of this religion is completely turned on it's head: Abortion and Homosexuality, for instance, are considered "good", and those who oppose these things are looked upon as "bad"; and these people are pushy and potentially violent.
I don't know how the Third Temple fits in with all this. If the Dome of the Rock is the Abomination that Maketh Desolate, it has been standing where it ought not be for 1,322 years. I certainly believe it is AN abomination, and ought to be removed out of respect for the place; but it doesn't qualify as THE abomination. I think the Jews ought to assert their right to build THEIR temple to THEIR God on THEIR land which THEY have fought for. If they do not, they are giving away their own legitimacy to exist as a people and a nation. Something mighty has to happen in the Jewish spirit, before that day dawns.
Meanwhile, I just keep following the war. The world (much of it calling itself "Christian") is siding with the Muslims and their claim to a "right" to the Temple Mount; and on the other side, the Jewish side, we have a pretty pathetic group of largely clueless people, protected by the God of the Universe. It's an uneven battle -- the world doesn't stand a chance
